Hi there! In a couple of weeks I'll be flying to Thailand. I was thinking to visit Koh Tao and then go to Ko Phi Phi . I heard it's rainy season in the West Coast. Is it really a good idea to go to Ko Phi Phi around May 4th? If it is, what's the quickest way to get to Ko Phi Phi? And if it is not a good idea, what other beach would you recommend me? I'm 21 years old and flying solo. Thanks! ...

Out and In Same Day Visa Renewal - Trat Province
Posted by Dunk71 on 11/6/2017 at 00:17Hi all, I am staying 5 weeks in Thailand and so need to do a quick 'out and in' visa run to avoid overstay charges on my 30-day Thai tourist visa. If I could do that from Trat town (as I will be on Ko Chang) it would be very helpful. I have no idea on ease and timings for this however so any info appreciated, Thanks... PS If I do just leave after 5 weeks and pay overstay charges (500 Bt / Day?) is there a problem with black mark in passport or unable to return to Thailand etc? It may be e ...

I am travelling from Sukhothai to Chiang Mai tomorrow - due to arrive in Chiang Mai around 12:30 - I then need to catch a bus to Pai and last one seems to leave at 2pm, so in theory I have enough time. But to save time, can anyone give advice on where I run to to get my ongoing ticket to Pai and can anyone confirm that both buses arrive/depart from the main Arcade station. ...

One of us wants to snorkel and get out on the water, but the other can't swim. Is there anywhere with beautiful marine scenery but on-land cultural appeal too: temples, museums, markets? Thanks for sharing your knowledge. ...

The Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi
Posted by somtam2000 on 20/6/2008 at 18:22I just received the following release from Care for the Wild, a UK-registered conservation group. In the past we've suggested visitors to Thailand should consider carefully before visiting the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi. This release, with a link to the full report, should be considered essential reading for anyone considering visiting the place. ##release starts Tiger Temple- Illegal Wildlife Trafficking, Animal Cruelty and Tourist Safety Risks http://www.careforthewild.com/news.asp ...

We don't want to rush through too many places, we have a list of things thing we want to do: Chiang Mai, Hot Springs, rain forest, trekking, beach, snorkeling and diving. The hotel that I have been using for decades located in the Sukhumvit/Asoke area is closing this year so now I need to find somewhere to stay. Apart from the odd occasion when this hotel was full I have never had to consider looking for anywhere else. It was never the smartest of places but was clean and friendly. The staff would even remember my kids from when they were toddlers up to now being 20 and 17. Obviously the choice is immense so any recommendations would be a help. Preference is to s ...

Would you spend 18,000 baht on dinner in Chiang Rai province?
Posted by somtam2000 on 5/5/2017 at 02:29This is a rather high-end take by the NYTimes on kicking around in Chiang Rai province. I dunno, I read the NYT and there is no way on earth I'd even consider paying 18k for dinner for two up that way. Thoughts? ...

Hi My wife and I are coming to Thailand in July for a week. Thisnis our 9th time in Thailand but first in that period as weather in Phang Nha islands tend to be rainy. We are looking for a 5 stars resort and but Kho Samet has only one 5 star resort which is very pricy. We consider Hua Hin/Cha Am but I am afraid it has mote camily orientation and the beaches are not " Thailand feel like" and not so special. So we left only Kho Samui (or Phangan..) 1. Does anyone have amother beach desti ...

Going to Koh Lanta? Don't go to the Mango Guesthouse which is featured on Travelfish
Posted by LilianKok on 3/5/2017 at 05:28We have had a horrible experience at the Mango Guesthouse + Villas on Koh Lanta. This place is featured on Travelfish, but I would strongly recommend everyone traveling here to find accommodation elsewhere. Below is the full story as a review I wrote on several channels: Me, my husband and mother (from Holland) booked one week at the Mango Guesthouse suite two+three. This accomodation was supposed to be the 'luxury' ending to a 3 week trip with mom and husband. Me and my husband had been trave ...

Five weeks in Thailand with three small children
Posted by martinah on 21/4/2017 at 13:41Dear Thailand-experts, We have visited Thailand twice for a month each time, as a family of four, and travelled in the eastern region, Koh Chang, Koh Kood, Koh Wai, Koh Maak and Trat, Chanthaburi and of course Bangkok. This time we are five (two adults and children of 7,5,1). We would like to see some new places, yet fear we won't enjoy them if they are too crowded. We didn't quite like Koh Changs northern beach (white sand beach) due to that reason. We love street food and finding genuine g ...

It's unreasonablesince I hire a room with a double bed, meaning the room is for 2 people, So Idon't understand why I need to pay extra if I enter a girlfriend from time totime... Anyway,I would be happy to hire a double bed room in a reasonable price. The proximityto the beach is not so important since I intend to use a scooter. Be ...

Where to find an electric kettle in Koh Lanta?
Posted by Megancornelius on 12/3/2017 at 23:20My partner and I are staying in Koh Lanta for 10 days. We found a great affordable room but we are looking to cook in our room to save $ on dining out. Any idea about where to find an electric tea kettle on the island? A handheld water boiler would work as well. We are in the south but could rent a scooter to get north if need be. ...
