Phuket to Koh Phi Phi - Ferry alternatives?

Posted by kpottermn on 12/10/2016 at 13:54

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to SE Asia in March, including 3 nights in Phuket /Koh Phi Phi. The problem is that our arrival/departure times from Phuket would seem to make it impossible to spend more than one night on Koh Phi Phi based on when we can catch a ferry back to the main island. Are there any alternatives to get across the Andaman at an earlier/later hour that won't cost an arm and a leg? What little I've seen on private speedboats suggest they're pretty pricey. ...

I remember seeing it (organised by govt) in front of some mall ten years ago where locals had gathered. 2. is the skytrain available after midnight? I read about taxi scams and was worried about that. Thanks connectingsouls ...

Where to go on the Andaman Coast?

Posted by MagsTravels on 27/9/2016 at 13:55

My husband and I are visiting Thailand and want to spend 6-7 nights on the Andaman coast at the end of October/early November 2016. We likely only have time to stay on 2 islands. Any favorites? We are looking for seclusion, and a more luxurious experience but still with lots of natural beauty and culture. Although we are only staying on 2 islands, it's possible to see more thru day trips, right? Any good day trip islands? Thanks so much! ...

Bangkok to Kanchanaburi and back

Posted by chrisTHEbeck on 10/10/2016 at 17:59

Hi, all. We are leaving Bangkok for Kanchanaburi on the early 07:45am train with the intention of staying over 1 night and returning the next day. Unfortunately the returning train to Bangkok leaves so early (2:45pm) that I can't seem to fit my itinerary around it. We are travelling to Kanchanaburi mainly for the waterfalls in Erawan National Park. As we are travelling that far it seems a shame to miss out on all the history surrounding the death railway so we'd like to incorporat ...

Need Help Deciding on the Best Time to Travel

Posted by MalcolmB on 1/10/2016 at 00:56

Hello all, I just started planning my first solo trip to South East Asia, and I've decided that Thailand will be the focus of my trip. I am looking for a quiet but adventurous trip that has a bit of everything, mountains, jungles, culture, and beaches. My plan is to take at least a month and really explore the country without a set timetable. I was thinking I would make a loop from Bangkok up north to the mountains and jungles, and finish with the south-east gulf islands/beaches. One of the t ...

Hi Planning a stay of 4 nights on Koh Kradan in February '17 and wondered if anyone here has an update on emailing for booking at Paradise Beach Resort (not Paradise Lost) Travelfish only lists a phone number and is the only site I've found to mention the place at all. It'll be peak season....would we be wise to book or do you think we could just wing it? Many thanks ...

We are hoping to have some cultural days followed by some down time on the beach. We land at Bangkok around 7am on Tues 11th October. We were thinking of saving Bangkok for future travel plans. Instead we would get a bus to the national airport and fly straight to Chiang Mai. We thought to stay here until the Saturday. On the Saturday we were c ...

Any reason to worry about recent attacks?

I have been thinking about planning a trip to southeast asia and Thailand was one of my top picks to see. Is there reason to worry about such attacks, and what should new travelers know about the safety of traveling there? Thanks, Malcolm ...

30 day visa and then a 60 day visa, ok??

Posted by claxius on 20/9/2016 at 07:33

I'm currently in India and plan to fly into Bangkok - get the 30 day visa on arrival - stay in Bangkok long enough to get a visa for Vietnam - take the bus into Cambodia, stay a while, and then onto Vietnam - spend a few weeks in Vietnam - and then I was hoping to get a 60 day Thai visa in Hanoi - then continue on through Laos back down to Thailand. So basically I'd like to know if it's ok to get a 60 day Thai visa after I've already received a 30 day visa earlier. Or can I only get a 30 day? ...

Destinations in Koh Samui

Posted by Jessicagh7 on 19/8/2016 at 09:32

Hi, I have booked to travel to Koh Samui next year for 5 days next. I am currently staying in Lamai and the Manathai Hotel which looks lovely however I am worried it's going to be too quiet and have the opportunity to move up to Chaweng instead (The Baan Talay). The most important thing to me is great restaurants / bars and lots to do in the day ie watersports/boat trips. I am aware Chaweng is a lot busier but also more expensive. Can anyone confirm what they would recommend? (for a young coup ...

Using a 60 day visa for second entry to Thailand

Posted by skinnybiker on 13/9/2016 at 15:04

I'm sure this question has been asked before but it's difficult to find an answer; a small group of us are cycling in SE Asia this winter making two entries in to Thailand both by land borders. The first will be for only a week but the second will be for about three weeks. Us Brits are OK with the 30 day visa exempt but our Aussie mate is a bit stumped as has only 15 days at land border crossings. So the question is can a 60 day single-entry visa be used for the second visit - the first visit be ...

Getting a SIM card on Phuket airport

Posted by Binibabe on 22/8/2016 at 12:01

Hi everyone, I will be travelling to Phuket in October (sailing, yay!) and I am trying to find out about getting a SIM card at Phuket airport. I've read that True seems to operate a little shop at the airport by now (not the freebie SIM cards), and someone told me that the convenience stores are no longer allowed to sell SIM cards because of the registration process... Can someone give me more information? Does True (or also other mobile companies) have a shop at the airport now and ...
