Sea liceLESS swimming areas?

Posted by Ooolga on 10/10/2019 at 07:44

Any suggestions, please...? For now, the only absolute secure place I've found is Ko Muk, and some parts of Lanta and Bulon Le. I visit Thailand in February, mainly to enjoy in swimming, and few times I had awful experiences (Samui, Phangan, Jum) I know not all the people are sensitive to sea lice bites, also that streams which carry these invisible little monsters change, but still hope to here some recommendations from sensitive swimmers... Looking forward to... ...

We started thinking about koh lanta and the surrounding islands, but perhaps you can share your thoughts... We've already been to thailand in koh samui, koh phangan, phuket, koh ph ...

Nan - Bo Kleua Loop

Posted by gatoguts on 19/9/2019 at 20:25

I will be going to Nan, and instead of doing the full Bo Kleua "loop" by motorbike, i was thinking of using Pua as my base, staying 3 nights, and going to Bo Kleua only for the day and back to Pua at night. Is this feasible, or would it be better to spend at least one night in Bo Kleua, and continue on to Nan city for the full loop? ...

Multiple entry Thailand

Posted by FFfietsen on 31/8/2019 at 15:57

Hi, I read you can only travel overland to Thailand twice a calendar year (more often by plane). Is this is correct? And are authorities strict on this? We'll be cycling through SE Asia for 4 months and will cross the Thai Border overland for at least 3, maybe 4 times ...

Avoid Moonhut Bungalows on Koh Samui

Posted by HarleyRiley on 1/7/2019 at 07:44

Recommending that people avoid moonhut bungalows on Koh Samui. Based on travelfish reviews I booked the AC bungalow. Arrived to find out the AC doesn’t work. Staff aren’t really helpful to resolve the issue; three hours later all they offered me is a bungalow with a door that doesn’t lock. So unless you want to sweat to death or get raped and murdered in your sleep, I would pass on moonhut. ...

Ferry from Chumphon to Koh Phangan.

Posted by CathJones on 27/5/2019 at 13:35

Hello, We want to get the ferry from Chumphon to Koh Phangan to arrive on the 26th July. I think the best option for us is the early morning ferry, but we are also considering a night crossing. Anyone have any advice or recommendations please ? How far in advance should we book our tickets ? Is it cheaper to book with a tour agent in Thailand rather than on line? If we go for the early morning crossing, is there a guest house close by that anyone could recommend please? Thank you , Cath ...

Staying in Hostel Dorms - how much is age a factor?

Posted by exacto on 13/4/2019 at 04:01

The recent post for Ban Rim Nam Hostel near the Phun Phin train station got me thinking about staying in dorm-style hostel accommodation again. I did this a great deal when I was younger, particularly in places like Australia and the United States, but not so much in Thailand, as it wasn't as common an option back then. When I was in my 30's and 40's, I sometimes (but not always) felt made unwelcome by the 20-somethings staying in the dorm rooms, which made me self conscious about it. Now that ...

Krabi and surrounding islands in July ?

Posted by CathJones on 18/4/2019 at 11:14

I’m travelling in Thailand with my husband and teenage daughters for 3 weeks in July/ August. We’d like to spend 3/4 days in Krabi, on or around Railey beach and perhaps head off to some of the islands in that area. I’m a bit concerned about the weather. I would expect downpours as it’s the rainy season, but are the showers short-lived in the main and will there be enough sun to make the most of the lovely beaches? My friend went to Phuket last August and the weather was glorious the ...

Driving a 4 wheeled vehicle in Thailand....

Posted by khunwilco on 20/4/2019 at 14:59

Driving in Thailand - perception versus reality... ““Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?” Foreigners who drive in Thailand frequently turn on the vitriol when it comes to talking about their fellow roads users...automatically excluding themselves from the equation and concomitantly implying that their driving skills are far superior to those of any Thai people..... Self-perception suggests that they are the ...

New guest house in Phun Phin, near Surat Thani train station

Posted by tilosettmacher on 26/3/2019 at 04:48

Ban Rim Nam is a new, modern hostel style of guest house, offering a dorm and family rooms on affordable prizing. The rooms are airconditioned, for which you need the thick duvets offered. Space is limited, and the location at the river can not promise a quiet night. but their river terrace snack bar is a perfect place to relax in this charmy small town, if you want to spend a night between train and bus and ferry and not stay at the provincial capital. More information on their web presence and ...

Update on Ko Jum

Posted by antoniamitchell on 13/12/2018 at 01:09

Having recently (Dec 2018) having returned from my second trip to Ko Jum (first was Dec 2016), I wanted to share a few updates. The island hasn't changed much since my last visit. There is a little bit of new development around the top end of the long beach (the Golden Pearl section) – I saw a new small bungalow development going in between Golden Pearl Beach Resort and Season Bungalow. I also noticed a new coin-operated laundrette opposite Season Bungalows, and a couple of new houses. But ...
