Local Stay With Family

Posted by j2016 on 2/11/2015 at 08:37

Greetings, I recently came across the following while researching which would have been perfect. Experience, first-hand, the life of a local island family by spending a few days on the island of Ko Por living in a local family's house and joining in with their daily routine. Sadly, it say that on the website that it is now closed. Has anyone else heard about something similar? Done some google se ...

I am in love with Thailand. My husband has never been. He has agreed to go with me for two weeks in October 2016. He doesn't like cities at all so I am staying away from Bangkok. Shall I choose Chiang Mai or Ayutthaya for a four night stay? We are going to Phuket for 3 nights and Koh Yao Yai for 6 nights. Your advice would be appreciated. ...

Drought in northern Thailand

Posted by geezer on 28/11/2015 at 18:32

One of my favorite areas of the world, I last visited in early 2014, coming in from Laos. Much of the time, there was a heavy haze which could burn the eyes and affect breathing. I was told that this was brought on by the regional practice of burning off crop residue which had been worsened by some years of drought. I became discouraged and returned to Laos sooner than planned. Has there been any relief to the drought conditions? I'm intending to travel again in 2016. ...

1 night/2 days trip to Khao Sok from Ao Nang/Krabi

Posted by sarah88 on 29/11/2015 at 02:55

Hello guys, We'll be visiting Thailand in March and also staying in Ao Nang for a few days. While there, we would like to visit Khao Sok National Park for 1 night/2 days. So we wonder if there are full package tours that we can book? For example, a tour that would pick us up from the hotel and also bring us back the other day, so that we don't have to think about anything. Also, do these tours go every day in a week, or just on a specific day? We would also like to know if these tours ar ...

Hello, Planning Island hopings with departure from Phuket. (Early January) Have looked at these one "Ko Yao Noi // Ko Yao Yai" as potential option with a stop over there. Has anyone been there recently? if so how was it? Looking for an island with local Thai life, village, fisherman etc etc. Could that be a potential option from Phuket? PS - really want to stay away from the all inclusive resort and will prefer to go to explore the island either on a scooter or bicycle. Is there c ...

Is it possible to get a mask out there for a decent price? Should I get one in Khuraburi, or Chumphon where I'll be the day before or even in Pranburi/Kaho Sam Roi Yot where I'll be before that? Thanks! ...

Choosing quiet beach areas in Thailand in December

Posted by algamann on 21/11/2015 at 11:05

Hi, my wife and I have 3 weeks in Thailandstarting 1 December, aiming to stay for a week-plus in the north, then wouldlike a beach somewhere in the sun, quiet, preferably undeveloped. We are notparty people, do like white sand, turquoise water (if good snorkelling evenbetter), to meet locals rather than only tourists. Had thought about one ofRailay plus Ko Jum, or Trang islands, or an island in the east, for example KoKut. Please let us know what you think, and any other suggestions are welcome. ...
