SE Asia Vaccinations

Posted by mattocmd on 4/9/2007 at 22:57

Hello everyone, Great website! I just bought the Vietnam Central Highlands guide and I would recommend it to anyone. It seems like a great destination for those looking to get off the same traveled path. Anyway I have a question about vaccinations. My friend and I are flying to Bangkok on 10/8/07. We are going to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pai and Phuket. She is leaving from there and I am staying in SE Asia for about 3 more months. I will travel to Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and maybe Myanma ...

Visa waiver re-entry via air?

Posted by mjb on 23/1/2017 at 10:26

New to this great site as planning a 'big' summer trip round Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. I have read the Thai visa page but i think it's not explicit on this point:- I enter under tourist visa waiver (Brit passport holder) and tour for a couple weeks then fly to Vietnam for 2 weeks then Singapore for few days before flying back (from Singapore) to Thailand (Phuket) where I'll spend another approx 10 days before flying home from Bangkok. My question is: will a second visa waiver ent ...

Motorbike rental in Ubon Ratchathani

Posted by lucasan on 19/1/2017 at 00:21

Since we found Ubon a surprisingly nice place we decided to stay longer and visit the surrounding area. The hotel gave us a well done tourist map with many places not on any guide. She told us of a motorbike rental in town: Jay Jay Car and Motorcycles Hire, Nakhonban Rd corner to Sappasit Rd, it's on Google maps, 250 Baht a day or 1500 Baht a week. They claim to be open from 8 AM but we found it closed at 10.30 AM. The owner speaks good english and on the phone (+66 89 625 5823) she told us the ...

Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat) bus station, buses to Phimai and Nang Rong

Posted by lucasan on 18/1/2017 at 23:49

We found the bus station in Khorat (Nakhon Ratchasima) somewhat confusing. Infact finding the platforms where buses to Phimai or to Nang Rong (Phanom Rung) leave can be hard because routes are written only in Thai... and no one spoke any english. To help other travelers the bus stop nr 12 is going to Nong Rang, departures every hour from 6 AM, after 12 noon buses are not so frequent. Trip takes about 2 hours and tickets (70 Baht) are sold before boarding from the man near the colum ...

Some guides are absent or messed up

Posted by Sknew on 17/1/2017 at 04:49

Hi guys. The main Kampaeng Phet guide (as opposed to the free one) seems to have a broken link. I downloaded the free version. Also, I don't see downloadable guides for Bangkok or Chiang Mai. I'm using an Android phone to browse, so it's possible that this plays a role in my problems... ...

What Island should we stay on in Thailand after Bangkok?

Posted by adanma92 on 13/1/2017 at 12:20

Hi, my boyfriend and I (in our mid-twenties) will be going to Thailand in April for the first time, for 2 weeks. We are spending 3 days in Bangkok and want to spend the rest of the holiday relaxing and exploring one of the Islands. I was going to do Phuket but have read so many discouraging things about it online. Should we fly to Krabi instead or the Phi Phi Islands? I'm having a really hard time deciding, any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks! ...

Family Accommodation in Kanchanaburi

Posted by goodmclean on 13/12/2016 at 03:44

First time users of the forum. We are a family of 5 (kids 9, 7, 5) looking for family friendly accommodation in Kanchanaburi around the beginning/middle of March 2017. We are travelling in the backpacker/flashpacker range, but are hoping to get accommodation with a swimming pool and be in a great location as we are keen to walk most places. We don't mind the backpacker scene, but we don't want to be next to a pub with music blaring until 2am! Does anyone have any good suggestions? ...

Diving Schools for Young Teens

Posted by BaliThai on 28/12/2016 at 17:35

I am traveling to Koh Tao in June, 2017 with my two daughters who will be 12 and 15 at that time. We are looking into getting our PADI open water certifications while in Koh Tao, and we hoped someone had good recommendations (preferably based on personal experience) for dive schools that are particularly good with young teens. We've looked at the articles on TravelFish related to diving on Koh Tao, and we'd also love hearing from people's experiences, good, bad, otherwise with the various dive ...

Help needed with forgotten teddy in khao sok national park

Posted by spoonz on 27/12/2016 at 22:14

Our daughter left her beloved teddy bear at the hotel in khao sok. Staff have kept it but its complicated to get it to us in bangkok. Is anyone leaving khao sok to bangkok? The teddy bear is at tree tops river huts, right at entrance to national park. We will be in bangkok until morning of 31st. Other option is if someone could post form somewhere and we can refund you postage ( and reward). This bear has been all over the world for 7 years with my daughter so much missed. Thank you.
