Family Accommodation in Kanchanaburi

Posted by goodmclean on 13/12/2016 at 03:44

First time users of the forum. We are a family of 5 (kids 9, 7, 5) looking for family friendly accommodation in Kanchanaburi around the beginning/middle of March 2017. We are travelling in the backpacker/flashpacker range, but are hoping to get accommodation with a swimming pool and be in a great location as we are keen to walk most places. We don't mind the backpacker scene, but we don't want to be next to a pub with music blaring until 2am! Does anyone have any good suggestions? ...

Diving Schools for Young Teens

Posted by BaliThai on 28/12/2016 at 17:35

I am traveling to Koh Tao in June, 2017 with my two daughters who will be 12 and 15 at that time. We are looking into getting our PADI open water certifications while in Koh Tao, and we hoped someone had good recommendations (preferably based on personal experience) for dive schools that are particularly good with young teens. We've looked at the articles on TravelFish related to diving on Koh Tao, and we'd also love hearing from people's experiences, good, bad, otherwise with the various dive ...

The teddy bear is at tree tops river huts, right at entrance to national park. We will be in bangkok until morning of 31st. Other option is if someone could post form somewhere and we can refund you postage ( and reward). This bear has been all over the world for 7 years with my daughter so much missed. Thank you. Changing money

Posted by Sarahkpd on 24/10/2016 at 05:49

Hi, Just wondering if i would get a better conversion rate changing money in the UK before I arrive in Thailand or after I arrive? I read a thread on trip advisor that said the best rates could be obtained in the airport when you arrive, but this goes completely against what I'd normally do for other countries? ...

How does this itinerary sound?

Posted by Sknew on 20/10/2016 at 18:45

I'll be back in Thailand this February. I am mainly interested in art and architecture, and this will be my third trip. So, my itinerary is a bit unconventional. Arrive Sunday in Bangkok, stay Sunday and Monday, Monday devoted to a day trip to Ayuttaya. Tuesday bus to Kampaeng Phet, staying two nights. Thursday bus to Sukhothai, staying for two nights. Both days to be used for Si Satchanalai. Saturday bus to Lampang , for two nights. On day two I'll probably do a day trip to Chiang Mai for ...

Meditation

Posted by theburningheart on 18/12/2016 at 21:10

Hello all, I will be traveling into Thailand at the end of April, early may and I'm looking for a Wat to practice meditation. Either Chiang Mai or any of the beach areas is what I would prefer. I don't know much about the process. I believe that I would like to stay between a week and a month depending on the situation. This is my first post on the topic so I really don't know what questions to ask so any answers or directions would be greatly appreciated. Jason ...

How much pre-booking do I need to do for a March trip?

Posted by NamManao on 25/12/2016 at 15:35

Hi all, I'm no newbie as I've been to Thailand four times, but I haven't been there since 2003. I'm looking at going in March 2017, but am wondering whether I can still "wing it" on the accommodations and domestic flights the way I have always done there in the past. That is to say, not pre-booking any hotel rooms (or flights, or anything else from the US before leaving) and just waiting until I'm there to survey the situation and choose suitable things from what's available. I've nev ...

Any experiences with Koh Tarutao and Koh Adang?

Posted by pedahlen on 10/12/2016 at 17:12

Hello! We are going to Thailand i February, and we would like to visit either Koh Tarutao or Koh Adang, but we don't know, which of the two islands that is the best? We are travelling with our 4 children in the age of 1½-11 years, so it won't be easy for us to do long walks or biking... We would like to see some beautiful nature and hopefully some exotic animals, so is there anybody who has visited one or both of the islands, and can tell us, which island they would recommend? Or is it ju ...

Reduced Koh Wai speedboat service

Posted by jps9122 on 8/12/2016 at 11:29

Hello to all. Has anybody travelled to Koh Wai lately? We're travelling there next month & have been advised that the speedboat service from Laem Ngop Pier has been reduced to one boat per day departing at 11.30am due to storm damage. As a result of the reduction in service it is now impossible to travel there in one day from Bangkok. Has anybody any experience of reaching the island by any other means, longtail hire from Koh Chang for example? I have attempted to contact the resort but to n ...

Visa/Check in/44 days trip/do I need the 60 dd VISA at departure????

Posted by SimonaK on 9/12/2016 at 10:43

Hi to all, I would like to have your advice on the following issue: I would like to stay in Thailand for about 40/50 days - I'm Italian and I should get 30 dd visa at arrival. My doubt is whether at the departure (check-in) I will be asked to show a 60 dd visa or not. I don't leave near to a Thai consulate in Italy thus I'd rather prefer to buy the visa extension in BKK. Hope is clear my question/doubt. thanks in advance for your answer simona ...
