What happened to Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar?

Posted by Laura11 on 21/11/2016 at 08:22

I just visited the night bazaar in Chiang Mai and was very disappointed. Is the sad, touristy market I witnessed a regular change due to increased tourism, or is this possibly due to the mourning period? My sister just arrived in Thailand to visit me, and although she had never seen a night market, even she was asking me if we were in the right area (we were). This said, where are other night or day markets in Chiang Mai that have more locals and more interesting goods and foods? ...

Posted by patty22 on 4/12/2016 at 18:41

However, they do not accept online payment and instead give two options: "payment agencies under the Department of National Parks at 16.30" or "pay at the counter or ATM with ...

I would like to spend the remaining 4 days on an island or a nice beach. Problem is I'm not sure where. Would you recommend I stay in Krabi town and do day trips to Phi Phi island and Phan Nga Bay? Or am I better off staying somewhere else? This site seems to highly recommend Ko Kood, and it does look gorgeous ...

Also I remember that couldn't book some cheap and midrange hotels around Thailand as they were booked out for Christmas in August already... Chiang Rai Expat Bar for USA Election Watching?

Posted by chellie99 on 4/11/2016 at 06:11

We're two Americans traveling in northern Thailand, and will be in Chiang Rai during the USA election - results should start to come in early morning on Nov. 9. We were hoping to maybe find a good ex pat bar or hotel to watch the election returns - any thoughts on what the best bets might be? Obviously, early morning is not typical bar time, but given the amount of interest in the election, maybe somewhere is opening early? If you have a suggestion of where the ex pats hang out for us to check ...
