Which beach is the right for me? Please help!

Posted by tavso9 on 14/11/2015 at 05:58

Hi, I'll be traveling to BKK over christmas and from roughly 1-5 of Jan. I would like to spend a few days on the beach of my dreams (or closest to). Here's what I am looking for: - quiet and relaxed (no children or old men in speedos) - powder white sand and turqouise waters - clean - can be reached within a day from BKK (max. overnight train + max. 4 hours more traveling) - clean waters for snorkeling off the beach - swimming off the beach - preferably huts or bugalows at the beach. - Also wou ...

Chiang Mai - Lopburi- Kanchanaburi. The wrong way round?

Posted by foxiebex on 13/11/2015 at 08:54

Hi, I am hoping someone can help. I intend to travel from Chiang Mai back towards Bangkok and on to Cambodia. I want to visit Lopburi and Kanchanburi on the way. Most of the information I can find is in the opposite direction. Can anyone advise the best way for me to do this? My intention was to get the night train from Chaing Mai to Lopburi then continue on to Kanchanburi. Is this possible without going hours out of the way. I realise this is the wrong way round for most people but I have ...

Hotel Suggestions in Pukhet, Ko Phi Phi, Bangkok?

Posted by FernR on 12/11/2015 at 09:03

Hi all, In late January, we're going as a family (two adults, two older teens) to Bangkok (3 nights), Pukhet (probably two nights) and Ko Phi Phi (probably another two nights) as the end part of a 40-day jaunt through Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Burma. This will be our only time in Thailand (but we parents spent many weeks here years ago, as part of a one-year budget backpacking trip through Africa/Asia) and our only days at the beach. Any suggestions for the best hotels for Bangkok, Pukhet ...

Best ways to travel to and from airports?

Posted by Esseff on 10/11/2015 at 19:39

Hey guys, So I'm leaving for Bangkok on Saturday, I'd like some opinions on the best way to travel to and from the airports? We fly into the international airport, but we're also taking some domestic flights as well. Bangkok-Chiang Mai round trip and Bangkok-Krabi round trip. I'm mostly concerned about coming into the international airport and finding our way to the hotel on the first night though, as we will be sleep deprived and overwhelmed I'm sure. We're going to Phra Sumen Road, I believe ...

Hello everyone, husband and I are going to visit Thailand from 04th to 20th March next year. This is our first visit to Thailand and we would appreciate a little help with our itinerary. Our plane is arriving to and departing from Bangkok International Airport. Generally speaking, we are thinking of visiting Bangkok, Chiang Mai and one island, and stay at each of these places for the same amount of time (approximately 5 days). However, after reading that Chiang Mai is not a good choice to vi ...

I think I will skip the 556 bus, as I have to be at the bus at 8:30 pm, so is it better to take a taxi all the way or go by airportlink to Phaya Thai and then by taxi? And how much would it be? Bangkok: which area?

Posted by Yesterday on 26/9/2015 at 00:23

Hi all, I've read around but still a bit confused about where to stay in BKK. I'd love some advice. We like street food and little local restaurants, not interested in big shopping malls, not into nightlife scene (but might do rooftop cocktails one night) definitely not Khao San road area. Enjoy cultural sights and wandering exploring. Have considered Chinatown area and across the river from the Grand Palace. Would love a pool but not vital. Any suggestions would be great. As would any 'don't ch ...

Thailand's new six-month tourist visa

Posted by somtam2000 on 28/10/2015 at 18:45

Thailand announced a new six-month tourist visa some time ago and there is a blog post on it here that goes through some of the possible advantages of it. Before you get too excited, this Reddit thread pretty much illustrates why the concept will be DOA for many legitimate tourists. As always with Thailand's ever changing visa regulations, the devil is in the small print, and, if the conditions are all enforced, it isn't really all that viable a visa for a longer term tourist to Thailand. ...
