Khao Sok solo on a budget

Posted by damo on 18/11/2009 at 22:04

Khao Sok looks amazing and I would definitely love to visit while I'm in the area. Only problem it seems to be aimed more towards families and tourists with prices to match. It would be way out of my budget to go with say Limestone Lake tours. Is there any way to do this on the cheap? I don't mind roughing it, walking a lot or anything like that. ...

Getting to Chiang Mai airport from Pai

Posted by rose51 on 18/11/2009 at 15:10

Hi we have to get to Chiang Mai airport from Pai in two weeks time. The flight leaves from Chiang Mai at 12.30 to meet a connecting flight at Bangkok to Krabi (we booked before the direct Chiang Mai to Phuket fights became available much to our annoyance). I'm told a mini bus takes about 3.5 hours to get to Chiang Mai and may drop off other passengers at different locations making the journey longer. We do not have the budget to fly from Pai to Chiang Mai and I think all Nok air fli ...

Halloween Now a children’s holiday. Halloween was originally a Celtic “ festival for the dead . celebrated on the last day of the Celtic year , October 31 . one story was that , on that day , the disembodied spirits of all those who had died throughout the preceding year would come back in search of living bodies to possess for the next year . it was believed to be their only hope for the afterlife . naturally , the still-living did not want to be possessed . so , on the night ...

Train/Bus from and to Ayutthaya, Lopburi and K'buri

Posted by jamiemcl on 15/11/2009 at 16:40

Hi all, Thanks for the hugely useful information for my questions regarding itinerary a wee while back. I am off at the end of this week, and had originally had the idea I would move from Chiang Mai (a few nights up in Pai) down through Sukhothai , Lopburi , Ayutthaya , Kanchanaburi and down to Bangkok (over 17 nights) leaving each place as I felt like it (within the limit of 18 days). However, it looks as though trains for the time I'm going (19/12 - 3/01) need to be booked in adva ...

Advise for a chilled Island Holiday

Posted by davipinks on 20/10/2009 at 18:12

My girl friend and I are flying into Krabi mid December and leaving in mid January. We would like to get our diving licenses (Krabi seems like the logical place to do so) and then explore many of the less traveled Islands. This forum seems to have a great number of experienced travelers and I would love for some of you to pass along any thoughts on how to get the most out of a chilled holiday. What kind of route might one take? Cheers ...
