Posted by Travel1221 on 6/11/2009 at 20:44

Hi there. Was on Koh Tao a couple of years ago and did the boat transfer to Phan Gan for the Full Moon Party. Felt a bit unsafe. How are things now. Would you trust it? A bit too late now to book accommodation on Phan Gan so would have to stay on a neighbouring island and boat it across for the party.......... ...

New destinations south of Chiang Mai

Posted by somtam2000 on 4/11/2009 at 10:31

We’ve been busy deepening our coverage along the famous Mae Hong Son loop in northern Thailand and have just added seven new spots working south from Chiang Mai. First stop is Hang Dong, followed in quick succession by Sanpatong , Chom Thong , Hot , Mae Chaem , the very little visited Mae Na Chon and last but not least, Thailand’s tallest peak, Doi Inthanon . So if you’re doing some slow travel along this route, you might want to give some of these spots a looksee. ...

Phuket Accomodation??

Posted by ctam2009 on 4/11/2009 at 20:32

Hello, I'll be in Phuket for a few days next week and was hoping someone might be able to suggest a place to stay. We're hoping for something on the beach thats still affordable (around $10-$15 a night), if such a thing still exists on Phuket.. We've been able to find just that in Ko Chang, and love it here, but hope to find something similiar down in Phuket. If someone could suggest a location or even the best beach to start searching at it would be appreciated! Thanks much.. ...

Ko Yao Yai (3D2N) - need loads of info!

Hi Kind Souls, Need some advice as I've never been to this island. I'll be arriving in Phuket early on the 13th of Nov by air (8:30am ETA). I'd like to head straight to Ko Yao Yai instead of Phi Phi as originally planned (if this is a silly idea let me know!). Need to know: 1. I read somewhere renting a motorbike in Phuket and ferrying it over is possible. a. How much is the bike rental per day? b. What do I need to rent the bike? c. How much to ferry it across one way? d. Can ...

Carrying cash

Posted by mattocmd on 18/12/2008 at 03:49

Hello, I am in the US at the moment and I fly to Thailand in a few weeks. I have about $2000 US worth of Korean won. I did my research and decided it would be best to carry the won to Thailand and convert it directly into baht. This avoids getting screwed twice. This will leave me with a large sum of baht and I don't know what to do. I would really hate to carry that much around but I think I am stuck. I will be in Thailand for about two months and will spend all of this money but I w ...

Showers in Koh Tao

Chiang Rai 2 days and which Gibbon?

Posted by NewbieC on 3/11/2009 at 17:24

Hello We're flying from Bangkok to Chiang Rai and then crossing into Laos from there. Is it worth spending only 2 full days in Chiang Rai (as I've read Chiang Rai best for trekking and don't think we'll be doing and there) or should we head directly into Laos after one night in Chiang Rai?....Wouldn't normally ask such detailed question but we're trying to figure out dates to book Gibbon experience. Also - any thoughts on whether it makes for a much different experience whether we do the ...

We are traveling in Dec/Jan for about 4 weeks with 2 kids, 8 and 10, arriving in BKK. After getting over jetlag, we will head down to Ko Jum for 4-5 days to decompress and then would like to spend a week in either Ko Lanta or Krabi before heading back up north to visit Kanchanaburi, Ayuthya, Lopburi. Which would be more suitable for our family - Lanta or Krabi? We want quiet, but not that quiet. Where would you stay? So many choices... ...

I know this may come off as kind of crass... ...but I'm a die-hard New York Yankees fan, arriving in Bangkok late on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Does anyone know any expat bars that might be playing the World Series on Wednesday morning? I suppose I can always resort to a quasi-legal internet stream, but there's no fun in that. ...
