30 day or 15 day visa on arrival overland from Malaysia?

Posted by Legacy88 on 21/7/2015 at 23:23

I'm currently in Penang and hoping to cross overland into Thailand in the next few days. I'm from the U.S. and everything I've read online says that I should get a 30 day visa on arrival no matter if I enter Thailand overland or via air, yet when I called the consulate in Penang I was told I would only get a 15 day visa overland. Has anyone from the U.S. (or any other G7 country) done this crossing recently? What should I expect? Thanks! ...

Do I need transit visa for Thailand-help please?

Posted by ieskinja on 18/7/2015 at 16:11

Sorry, My itinerary is: Bangkok-then to Laos-then to Cambodia-back to Bangkok-home. So I obtained tourist 2-entry visa for Thailand from Thai consulate in my home country, that's all ok. But, in order to move from Laos (Luang Prabang) to Cambodia (P.Penh), I book a flight, which is connecting flight LP-via Bangkok-PP. It is the same airline company, with few hours between flights (1. flight LP-BKK/2. flight BKK-PP). If anyone knows, please, do I need to take another, i.e. transition visa to c ...

Travel from Chiangmai to Siem Reap. Help!

Posted by ander112 on 5/7/2015 at 19:02

Hi, my sister and I will be leaving Chiangmai to siem reap in about a week, and we were wondering the best and safest way to get there. We're worried about the number of horror stories associated with overland travel to siem reap from Chiangmai and were wondering if anyone had reputable suggestions or insight on the subject. Flying is the last resort. We have found a flight for $104 on air Asia which seems expensive. And another option of ours was to buy to separate tickets for the same day. ...

Hotel reviews

I wonder how many negative reviews get rejected. Posted one 3 days ago on a booking site and still not appeared. The hotel won some best accomodation award from that site. Looks dodgy. The rooms werent terrible but far from high rating which the site claimed and the questions were vague and a score out of 10 is created by them not the reviewer. ...

Tiger Temple

Posted by emmyb on 4/8/2006 at 07:16

I have dreamed of visiting the Tiger Temple in the Kanchanaburi province of Thailand ever since seeing a segment about it on a travel show. I will finally be heading off to Thailand in November, however the most recent Lonely Planet guide advises against going to the Tiger Temple. I was wondering if anyone had been there recently and what your impressions were? Also does anyone know of any alternative close encounter Tiger experiences in Thailand? Thanks ...

Phimai, Phnum Rung and Preah Vihear

Posted by dg234 on 4/7/2015 at 16:16

Hi- My husband and I are interested in visiting the ruins in northeast Thailand including Phimai , Phnum Rung and Preah Vihear. There are also a number of smaller ruins in between these sites of interest to us. Our current plan is to travel from Bangkok to Phimai and stay a night or two. In Phimai we would like to hire a taxi to take us to Phnum Rung and the other ruins in the area and then drop us off a Surin where we will spend the night. The next day we would like to get a taxi in Surin that ...

Airport Rail Link for 8:45 am flight at BKK?

Posted by andrewesque on 30/6/2015 at 22:56

I am considering a Tiger Air flight to Singapore that leaves on a Friday at 8:45 am from Suvarnabhumi (which would save me a considerable amount of money). If I am staying near Victory Monument, is it realistic to take the Skytrain+Airport Rail Link to make it to the airport by 7:00 am, and then make my flight? I'm mostly concerned about two things: 1. The BTS Skytrain + Airport Rail Link timetables I looked up seem to indicate that if I caught the very first Skytrain and the Airport Rail Link ...

Preah Vihear

Posted by dg234 on 5/7/2015 at 15:37

I have read some conflicting accounts on the web regarding access to Preah Vihear from Thailand. (The posts in travelfish mostly refer to getting to the temple from Northern Cambodia.) Does anyone know the current status? I have seen one newspaper article, dated January 2015, that made it sound like there was an agreement to allow tourist (not Thai citizens) to visit the ruins from Thailand. Another post this year made it sounds like you can walk to a point where you can see the ruins from t ...
