I fly into BKK on April 1st and would like to make it to Phanom by April 4th to see both, the sunrise and the "Ascent of Phanom Rung" festival. Can someone tell me what is the best way to get there for sunrise? Is it be possible to find someone to drive me from Nang Rong at 5AM, or do I have to rely on renting my own transport. Hello! Me and my gf have 5 weeks in Asia. Sorry for the long post hehe but we are very close to our first international holiday and still have a lot of doubts!!! We like sun, beaches, nature and culture equally, and we are not looking for nightlife that is why we will spend only 1 day in Bangkok. I wanted to spend only a day each in Koh Phang Nan and Koh Tao but because she found out about the FMP I had to change it, my gf really wants to go I personally don't mind(are HMP any better?).. one-two-go airline placed on EU blacklist

Posted by sayadian on 16/9/2009 at 13:59

THE families of a couple killed in a plane crash while travelling through Asia said today their deaths were "preventable". The parents of Alex Collins and Bethan Jones, whose grandparents, Howard and Harriet Collins, come from Mumbles, have also warned about the dangers of flying on airplanes listed on an EU blacklist. Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of the air disaster at Phuket, Thailand, when the budget operator One-Two-Go crashed on approach to landing, killing 90 passengers and ...

Chiang Dao Nest

Posted by ano_1 on 16/9/2009 at 07:25

Hi, After reading the many great reviews of Chiang Dao Nest 1, I am seriously considering a stay there. However I have a few reservations which I hope readers may be able to assit with. Is the location so isolated you are obliged to use only the Nest's restaurants? Bungalow size: would a bungalow support 3 teenagers? Re aforesaid teenagers does the area hold enough activities to captivate for a 3 or more day stay? I know and look forward to the bungalows rustic nature, however how rustic, a ...

Which beach/island?

We will be in Laos and maybe Vietnam or Cambodia for four weeks next February. We want to end the trip on a realaxing beach...Choices we are considering are Koh Pu/Jum, Ko Chang, or the Surin Isands Nat. Park. Also thought about Phu Quoc in Vietnam. Last time we were in Thailand we did the Poseidan Live aboard in the Similans and loved it, but we want to stay put this time at the beach. We are looking for a quiet spot, with good swimming and snorkeling not too far. Any suggestions would b ...

Chiang Mai-Sukhothai-Kanchanaburi-Bangkok

Posted by ano_1 on 14/9/2009 at 07:46

Hi, I would welcome some opinions of travelling from Chiang Mai to Sukhothai to Kanchanburi to Bangkok. Will have young (and hopefully willing) teenagers in tow, time constraints will only allow 2 nights in Sukhothai (New Sukhothai) and Kanchanaburi. Does the difficulty of the do-ability outweigh the benefits of visiting said Sukhothai and Kanchanaburi. Many thanks for any advice/ opinions offered ...

Questions and itinerary

Posted by TheAlmightyBob on 13/9/2009 at 10:47

(sorry for the vague title and long message, but it seemed perhaps preferable to starting multiple threads... feel free to tell me if I was mistaken) I'm dragging two friends on a quick (3 week) tour through Vietnam/Cambodia/Thailand. Yes, it's very much the well-beaten tourist path. We probably best fit the "flashpacker" category (a term I never came across until Travelfish)... overland travel, budget-but-not-too-budget guesthouses, etc... First, some questions: 1. Chiang Mai trekkin ...

Hi, I've heard some reports about a "gambler's express" that departs somewhere around Lumphini Park on Weekend mornings and takes you straight to the border. This seems like it's inarguably the best way to get there. Does anyone have the precise details about this service - where it departs from, exactly, and when? ...

Hi folks, I'm planning a trip for this December. My plane will get into Bangkok from Almaty somewhere between 4 and 5pm on a Monday and I'm trying to make it to Ko Samet. Is it possible to do it that day or should I plan to spend the night in Bangkok? From what I've read, it's 3 or 3.5 hours to Ban Phe by bus and the ferries to Samet make their last run around 5 or 6pm so that's out. What about the speedboats? Or would it be advisable to take the bus to Ban Phe (arriving around 9 or ...
