Travelling partner sought! now!

I'm current in Ko Samui and will be around here and local islands for 1 week. not sure for the 5 days after that I am then heading up to chang mai and around that region (possible pai) for a week then going on to laos and cambodia. I'm going well over budget and think having some to share a room with and some expenses would be of benefit to both. For some reason people only seem to travel in even numbers! maybe that because its couples and people smart enough to go with someone else and sa ...

a week to explore - starting in Phuket

Posted by pilinka on 9/2/2009 at 16:39

A friend and I are going to Phuket in March and will be in Thailand for three weeks. I am visiting family in Phuket so want to stay mostly there, but my friend who is a first time traveller would like to see some old/ancient/architecture/temples/ruins and such. I am thinking of taking her to Nakorn Si Thammarat, but wonder if anyone has some other ideas. Going all the way up north seems kind of far and complicated, so would prefer to stick within the Southern regions. ...

Where to stay last night, close to Suan Lum

Posted by amz155 on 5/2/2009 at 10:04

On our last day in Bangkok, we will be coming from the Suvarnabhumi Airport (back from Krabi) and will need a place to stay for one night. On our last night we would like to visit Suan Lum Night Bazar if its still open at the time. The next morning we fly home. Most likely we will be at Suan Lum until late and will need to take a taxi back to our hotel. Where should we stay: -that is either a safe quick walk back to hotel or a cheap metered cab ride from Suan Lum to hotel AND -is ...

Hi, I've been browsing through the Travelfish site for a few weeks now and have to say, wow, so much useful info. We have booked flights to Thailand in May for our honeymoon. We are aiming to spend a week or two in the North, Chiang Mai for a bit of trekking and then a week or two on the beach, probably Ko Samui or nearby islands. (With a small amount of time in Bangkok as it's our first visit to Thailand) I am a very fair skinned person that is particularly susceptible to burning when ...

Which Southern Island

Posted by Dogarama on 25/9/2008 at 20:05

I am visiting Thailand in late November and have been searching for an ideal island destination for late in the trip, following visits to Bangkok, Cambodia and Laos. We are looking for something very relaxing, not overly touristy, with some beautiful scenery, perhaps a "diamond in the rough." We were looking at Samui/Tao/Phangan and were leaning toward the latter. Is the weather in issue in late November? Should we be considering another area (Krabi or elsewhere)? If weather is suitabl ...

thailand beaches in june

Posted by kimcrossley on 5/2/2009 at 08:42

We're planning to revisit Bangkok, then a southern island, in late June...possibly Phuket since we haven't been back post-tsunami. I've been reading that many of the Phuket beaches are "unswimmable" that time of year. Is there a better island for us to visit where the beach would be nice in June? We did Krabi in June '04 and were very disappointed - water was 'muddy' and waves were unmanageable. We'd like to avoid that this time. ...

We are a family of 4, children aged 8 and 11, who want to go trekking in Chiang Rai. Any recommendations will be highly appreciated :-) ...

Visa or plane ticket first?

Posted by cubedweller on 3/2/2009 at 23:23

I'll be in Thailand (and possibly the surrounding countries) for about 2 months starting in March. I've yet to buy my plane ticket but was going to do so soon. My dilema is, with only given a 30 day visa on arrival, I will need to apply for a 90-day multiple entry tourist visa (just in case I decide to leave and travel without having to worry about the 15 day pass) before setting off. Should I just go ahead and buy the plane ticket and then head to the Thai Consulate in order to arrange my V ...
