Flights from Bangkok to Mae Hong Son

Posted by hjf456 on 2/12/2008 at 20:38

The only direct airline flying from BKK to MHS appears to be PB Air but on their website they don't allow you to select a date to travel on. Does anyone know the latest news on this route? I know Thai Air flies to MHS from BKK, but it goes via Chaing Mai - and if I'm going to do that route I'd more likely choose Air Asia (to CM) and then Nok Air (to MHS) as it works out cheaper. Any help gratefully received. We're leaving BKK on Feb 23rd and return on Mar 1st Thanks ...

China Airlines to Bangkok

Posted by neosho on 30/11/2008 at 03:04

I am scheduled to fly into Bangkok on the 5th from Taipei. I just talked to China Air and they are rescheduling flights to Chiang Mai or Phuket. I think they are operating that on a day to day basis as I could not get my ticket changed until Monday or so. Thanks to all on Travelfish for the updates in Thailand. ...

The train to Kanchanaburi

Posted by LancasterLad on 31/10/2008 at 12:18

Do it! The 1355 from Thonburi takes 2.5 hours and is great fun compared to a bus ride through mainly ugly urban sprawl. Only 100 bahts too! Three Top tips in Kanchanaburi. Hire a pushbike, get out of town and enjoy the scenery. Get the non-aircon bus to Hellfire Pass and do the walk, or at least part of it. Then get the bus back to Namtok, and take the 1515 train back to Kanchanaburi - brilliant day out. And do spend a few minutes visiting a war cemetary - very moving experience. Pete ...

Should I go or should I stay?

Posted by juliaregis on 28/11/2008 at 11:36

I was one hour away from Bangkok Tuesday night and got diverted to HK. Then sent back to Tokyo (I'm not pleased with NWA). Some reports say airport will open Sat. at 6pm. Do those of you "in the know" think this will actually happen? I'm in the Tokyo airport with a flight home to Portland and I am seriously conflicted. help! ...

Why not booking to Thailand

Posted by dellai on 30/11/2008 at 14:17

The planes are fully booked from bangkok to the southern parts of Thailand in case you want to travel and go for the beaches. Next to this is the lift in prices which are quite impressive according to last year. Next to this the problem now is learning the hard way that there is no consumer protection in Thailand and the Thai people are not that friendly as you think they might be, especially during crisis situations. The airlines will just give refund (in case of internet buying) and you hav ...

Stuck in Bangkok - pool?

Posted by sarben on 30/11/2008 at 20:15

Hi I'm one of the 90,000 stuck in the capital and would be so very grateful to find out if anyone knows of a hotel which allows you to use their pool (happy to pay) my feet need a rest and it would be great to have at least one day in the sunshine without inhaling the two-stroke and sewers!!! Would obviously prefer an outdoor pool if poss;-) thanks Sarah ...

NYE in BKK

Posted by Crom on 26/11/2008 at 22:19

Hi guys, I'm trying to decide whether to go to Thailand before or after NY. I'm pretty flexible but want to get something booked up before I go so I have a base for a few days. I've read here that Khao San Road is the hub for travellers and Silom Soi 4 is another good place for NYE. Is BKK worth avoiding given the troubles and given that I'll probably arrive on 30.12 do I have enough time to get out to Krabi or somewhere like that? ...

Online ferry booking?

Posted by shakester on 17/11/2008 at 15:45

Hi fishers after a long disconnect from all things travel I am getting a FEW days off so am hopping to Thailand. Quick question: I fly into Phuket at night (arriv around 7.30pm). I suspect by the time I get to where I am crashing for the night (Karon beach), it will be about 10pm. I need to get out on the morning ferry to Railay (i've checked, since its peak season it seems there is a ferry direct). the only problem is that I arrive too late to go to an agency and buy the next morning's ti ...

Ko Lipe - various questions!

Posted by tracylee on 26/11/2008 at 05:17

Hi- I'll be vacationing in Thailand and was planning on going to Ko Lipe, as I heard it's not quite as nasty touristy as some other places. However - I also heard that it's full of construction at the moment; can anyone provide more info on this?? Also, any suggestions of where to stay? I'd prefer a quiet place with a nice beach. And, finally, just been reading that Hat Yai may be dangerous to pass through, and there are tensions down south. Should I not go there, and instead head some ...

2 weeks in Thailand/Laos - help needed!

Posted by hjf456 on 22/11/2008 at 22:51

My girlfriend and I have just booked return flights to Bangkok from the UK for a total of 16 nights – arriving on Feb 22 2009. We currently have no further plans, and after spending a couple of days looking at guidebooks, various sites online, and particularly this excellent website, I thought I’d post a message here asking for assistance in planning a rough itinerary. Ideally, we are looking to spend a week doing the culture/trek/activity stuff somewhere in the north (or even better, ...

Last minute trip to the Islands!!

But HELP! I have no idea which one to go to! My dad is coming out to visit me in Sydney for Christmas, but our plans of renting a campervan and traveling up the coast has been crushed due to the extreme lack of campervans available...argh!! I digress... I looked online and found some cheap flights to Phuket so here we come! We are both big divers so we want an island with some great diving and competitive rates. I did my open water on Koh Tao, so I'd like to see some place differ ...

Tentative Itinerary

Posted by terryMac on 21/11/2008 at 02:02

My wife and I, mid 50’s, will be travelling to Thailand for 8 weeks from Jan 14 to March 13. We have come up with a tentative itinerary and wish to get your input. Here goes. Arrive BKK on Jan 14 and looking at staying in Siam Square area due to transportation benefits. Thinking about Wendy House or White Lodge. Stay 4 days then bus/train to Kanchanaburi, bus to Ayutthaya →Sukhothai → Chiang Mai (here to trek for a few days), then either bus/rent car/car and driver to go to Ph ...
