Looking for a nice small island like Koh Lipe

Posted by wessatong on 7/10/2008 at 10:11

Okay, I know it's a silly request since I should just go back to Koh Lipe, but I was wondering if there are any other islands as cool as Lipe which I can check out this December. Something that is small, has only about 3-5 beaches, is not too overpopulated or touristy, and decent sand and water quality. Is that too much to ask? Or should I just return to the paradise that is Lipe, content in the fact that it's one-of-a-kind? ...

Thailand during peak-peak for ultra-runner/yogini couple...need guidance

Posted by 4erica on 20/10/2008 at 08:24

Hi all I am really impressed with the information that is available here. I have already done a lot of reading on Thai Islands during the peak travel season...and Im feeling a bit anxious. My boyfriend and I booked our tickets to BKK from mid-December through to mid-January and we just need some help sorting out our trip. We dont drink and are more into active pursuits, massage, vipassana meditation, swimming, sunning, and some people watching. We are not into the 20-something party ...

Honeymoon Planning, Weather in May

Posted by lars6685 on 14/10/2008 at 01:28

We are trying to plan our honeymoon and are dying to visit Thailand, but are concerned with the weather in May. We have seen some conflicting information and want to know if it is worth postponing our trip. I know it's impossible to predict the weather, but we would probably consider other alternatives if the chances for cloudy/rainy days was high. ...

Budgeting for 5 month trip to South East Asia

Posted by alisonbrown08 on 16/10/2008 at 04:07

Hello, My friend and I will be heading out to Bangkok from the U.S. mid-November and are planning on staying until the end of March. We were thinking about teaching for a while, but with the teaching regulations getting tougher this might not be possible. I am planning on bringing $5000USD with me to last between November 11-March 31, with a 2 week layover in Japan on the way back (which will be relatively more expensive than SEA). I was wondering if this was an adequate amount of mon ...

The Down Low On Nakorn Si Thamarat Beaches and Kanom.

Posted by Spencerh on 12/10/2008 at 15:30

We just got back from Kanom and the surrounding beaches. We used travelfish exclusively for our info and would like to clear some things up. 1. It's easiest to get to Kanom from Surat Thani. There are mini buses that leave all day for 100 baht a person. If you pay anymore than this, you are being ripped off. You get on the bus in the back left corner of the old market in town. 2. There is only one guesthouse that is in a backpackers price range. It is in the town of kanom and called ...

New Years in Southern Thailand.

Posted by Prototype on 9/10/2008 at 07:54

G'day all, I hope life finds you all well. Me and 3 or 4 mates are heading to Phuket on the 22nd of December, and staying on the mainland until the 26th when another friend arrives and we will be heading to an island for New Years festivities. The rest of the crew will be leaving on the 5th of January, bar me and one other friend who plan on heading North for 6 weeks. I have a couple of basic questions for you lovely people. 1) We'll more than likely stay in Patong on arrival to Phuket. ...

Leaving next week

I'm going to Thailand on 15th Oct. If anyone can give me a few more tips on what to do I'd appreciate it. At the moment I'm intending to go to Chiang Mai, Soppong, Tham Lod, Nan, Nong Khai and then finish up at a beach, possibly Ban Saphan Yai. I've got 6 weeks, is there anywhere else I should consider? Remembering this is a holiday and I don't want to be rushing around trying to catch connecting buses with a minute to spare. ...

Can you get Malarone malaria tabs in Bangkok?

Posted by rhymeandreason on 1/10/2008 at 15:53

Starting in Thailand, then heading to malaria hotspots of Cambodia and Laos. We've been recommended Malarone (mozzies resistant to other meds there!) but you have to get a private prescription and tabs are nearly £3 each in UK. Anyone know if Malarone is available in Bangkok yet? (I hear there's a Boots in Khoa San Road!!) - and do we need prescription or is it just over the counter? cheers, R&R ...
