Southern Thailand

Posted by Harry05 on 25/10/2007 at 02:12

Will be travelling in southern Thailand in the first 2 weeks of december. I know there are a lot of topics and good websites with info about the places where I want to go (and I already have been reading a lot), but it's also the experience of other travellers (also about time) I would like to know, including advice on itinerary. My itineray looks like this: Arriving in Phuket by plane (staying 2 days, propably Karong Beach), take a boat to Phi Phi (about 2 hrs?, staying 2 days, one day taking ...

From Phimai to the Mekong

Posted by jofml on 24/10/2007 at 23:15

Hi there, we go to Thailand on Nov 7th and want to join the Phimai Festival first. From there we want to go further to Nong Khai or Chiang Khan, does anybody know about the possibilities getting there? Is it necessary to travel to a bigger city first to get to the mekong from there? Nong Khai seems to be reachable much easier, what are travel possibilities to Chiang Khan from Phimai? Thanks in advance Frank ...

USD/THB & Currency

Posted by Yun on 2/10/2007 at 09:20

I was wondering how widely accepted USD is in Thailand - is it possible to get around BKK/KPN/Koh Tao withOUT any THB? I assume THB is advantageous and expected especially in markets and stalls. In this case, I'm coming from Australia. Today the Exchange rates online are: - AUD1:28.37THB or USD1:31.84. Would I be best doing: 1) In BKK, changing AUD to THB? 2) In Australia, changing AUD to USD, then in BKK changing USD to THB? 3) Just carrying USD and getting THB in change off the s ...

I'm arriving with my oh on christmas eve and will be staying in Bangkok for 2 days then down to Phuket for a couple of days. I am then wanting to go to an island with white sands, good for snorkelling and a little, little bit going on in the evening which can be fairly easy accessed from Phuket, here we will stay for close to 2 weeks. Ko Phi Phi was my first choice but as its peak season i don't fancy the sound of it after reading a few threads. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advanc ...

Some kind of minibus, bus or whatever? Because the train takes quite some time. Thanks for your help, jasmin ...

Thai islands over Christmas

Posted by rocketgirl on 17/10/2007 at 17:02

I would like to spend 3 weeks from 20th December-10th Jan around the Thai islands Ko Tao, Ko Pha Ngan and Railay, which I know are all popular islands. I only have a 500-600 baht a day budget, so can only really afford accommodation of 400-500 baht a day maximum (i'm sharing my room with a friend). I've been looking online to try and book my room in advance but none of the cheap options let you book online, so I'm not sure what to do. Originally I was going to do the following 20-26th Dec Ko ...

Quiet beaches within easy access of Bangkok

Hi I am in Bangkok for 3 weeks in November and am looking for a side trip to a beach for 3/4 days. I am not looking to spend much time travelling. Most beach resorts sound great at first and then I read reviews reporting crowds and dirty beaches. Can anyone recommend somewhere off the beaten with good accommodation where you can be away from crowds and enjoy a quiet clean beach within easy access of Bangkok? Advice is much appreciated Paul ...
