Thailand august.

Posted by tyson on 2/7/2014 at 04:18

Hey everyone I'm travelling to Thailand in August for three weeks just to relax and hopefully soak up some sun. I'm just wondering if anyone has travelled there at this time of year due to wet season. I've read koh samui is warm and nice at this time of year, is there any other beachy places anyone can recommend? I also want too spend some time in chang mai, do you believe it is better to go this time of year or other times? Last of all, is Bangkok worth visiting for few nights in august because ...

Andaman Islands - snorkeling in December - any advice

Posted by Surefolly on 4/8/2014 at 12:55

Looking for an island on the Andaman Sea side of Thailand to spend a week on over Christmas. I'll be traveling with my wife and our two boys (ages 8 & 11). We'd like to find a place to just relax, explore and snorkel. The main goal is to find snorkeling that is on par with Koh Tao - which we visited in 2003. I've heard there are some good places to stay that are close to other islands that you can visit on day trips to snorkel. We're also curious what the weather is like during that time of ...

Hi there, We've only got 1 night & 1.5 days in BKK so it'll be hard to get our bearings. Where would you stay if you were me? Area or hostel. Happy to pay a bit more if it means not wasting time getting lost & trying to figure out transport. Thank you! Jess. ...

Anyone Has Taken 5mW Astronomy Laser Pointer In Travel

Posted by bosummer on 3/8/2014 at 05:37

I am planning to camp near the sea next weekend. My son asks me to take his astronomy laser pointer in his luggage. He will use this 5mW green laser pointer to point fishes and others in the sea at night. Anybody has any experience of playing laser pointer? I am worrying that other people will not be glad once my son point it in the sea at night. ...

Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary

Posted by gregmccann1 on 1/8/2014 at 03:47

Just got back from an incredible 5-day trip to Khlong Saeng Wildlife Sanctuary down in Surat Thani. Khao Sok NP is much more popular than Khlong Saeng but, having been to Khao Sok 3 times previously, I can say that the jungle is much better in Khlong Saeng -more wildlife, far fewer tourists, and equally as beautiful in the Chiao Lan Lake section (Khao Sok and Khlong Saeng share this area 50-50). Anyway, have a look at a trip report that I just wrote up here that contains descriptions and practic ...

Southern Thailand beach - March 2015 for a first-timer to Thailand

Posted by Levesque25 on 14/7/2014 at 22:54

Greetings, Wanted to ask for recommendations for a good beach in Southern Thailand in March for a solo-traveler and first-timer to Thailand. I'll be in Thailand and Cambodia for a month total but can spend 4 nights for the beach. What I'm looking for are (preferably) white sand, clear water, not too overcrowded, clean, nice opportunities for jogging, mid-range accommodations, not into drinking or partying. A beach that's relatively chill but with an atmosphere that can wow a first-timer lik ...

Coming to Ko Pha Ngan for the party? Think again.

Posted by somtam2000 on 25/7/2014 at 19:36

I'm on Ko Pha Ngan at the moment and just wanted to let readers know that at the moment ALL parties aside from the Full Moon Party have been cancelled. All of them. It's apparently a part of a military crackdown on drugs and the party scene, among other matters. Ko Tao and Ko Samui are apparently unaffected and I was told yesterday many of the KPN DJs have temporarily moved to Ko Samui till things settle down. Will update this if/when I hear more. Cheers ...

Help with 4am arrival Lop Buri/ Ayutthaya?

Posted by ashsmoen on 25/7/2014 at 20:00

Hi all, I will be traveling in Thailand with my husband and 4 year old boy in January. We've never been to SE Asia before and are starting in Chiang Mai (work related). We thought it sounded great to take the sleeper car train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, seeing Lop Buri and Ayutthaya on that route. The only trouble is that the night train arrives in Lop Buri at 4am (or Ayutthaya 5 am)! What is the likely senario of arriving at Lop Buri at 4am? Will there be tuk tuks? Is anything open? I ...

Hi All, We will be on Koh Lanta with our 5 year old in January. Trying to decide between Khlon Dao (Nobel House or Slow Down) and Khlong Nin (Narima). The bungalows look so appealing at Narima, but is the beach rocky or steep? We prefer a gentle beach. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks! ...

the Surat Thani Railway station scam to catch the last boat of the day to Koh Samui

Posted by Terryofcrete on 25/7/2014 at 13:17

The train from Bangkok to Surat Thani can get delayed along the way and this makes it tight to catch the last boat to Koh Samui. When the train arrives there are guys running up and down the platform shouting Koh Samui, and as a first time traveller on that route, coming from Hua Hin, I asked how much to the boat and was told 150baht. Lovely ! However when he had gathered a dozen people into his van he took off at breakneck speed and 10 minutes later stopped and handed us over to another drive ...

Will new Thai visa rules affect our plans?

Posted by katieandchris on 16/7/2014 at 13:53

I have done a lot of reading about the new Thai visa rules but wanted people's opinions on how this might affect our plans. Our initial plan was as follows: Fly from Heathrow to Bangkok, arriving on 6th October 2014. Stay 30 days on Visa exemption stamp. Leave Thailand at the end of the 30 days and go to Laos. Spend 30 days in Laos. At this point we wanted to go back to Thailand for another week before heading into Cambodia. This would be end of Nov/Beginning of December. Then we would be i ...

Bangkok - Cambodia - Bangkok Visa validity

Posted by andiamo on 1/8/2013 at 07:08

Me and my spouse will be visiting Bangkok mid August and have planned to travel to Siem Reap from there. Was worried about validity of our Thailand tourist visas once we exit the country. We need to take our flight back from Bangkok and are concerned if the Thailand tourist visa would allow us to re enter the country again. We will be travelling by trains from Bangkok - Siem Reap - Bangkok and wonder if land border regulations would allow re entry into Bangkok. Advise please ! ...
