Update information for Thailand

Posted by chiewn14 on 4/7/2014 at 12:46

Let's update on Thailand's situation... might help you more confident in Thailand like i do: Thailand is always ready to welcome tourists with a friendly smile. Visitors planning to visit the kingdom need not worry about the country being under the administration of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) as that has had no impact on Thailand's tourism at all. Thailand remains a safe tourist destination, offering a wide variety of tourist attractions, ranging from unique culture, ...

Coup in Thailand, curfew and more

Posted by somtam2000 on 22/5/2014 at 06:45

At 16:00 Thursday 22 May The Thai military staged a coup in Thailand. They have explicitly stated that foreign travellers and foreign consulates and embassies will be protected. Importantly, in a subsequent announcement, they have declared a nationwide curfew from 22:00 to 05:00. If you have a early morning flight out of ANY airport in Thailand, this could be very problematic as international flights require check-in two hours beforehand and there are plenty of flights before 7am in Thailand. ...

It gonna be better for Thailand!!!

Posted by chiewn14 on 26/6/2014 at 19:22

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), currently overseeingThailand's administration, has launched a raft of measures aimed at improving the experience of travellers and tourists visiting the kingdom, as well as showing its commitment in welcoming visitors. The NCPO announced last week that the taxi queues at Suvarnabhumi Airport are to be computerised in an effort to cut down on illicit control of cab operations. Under the new computerised system, the passenger queues will be m ...

Posted by garimagg on 24/6/2014 at 05:55

Hi, A friend and I are planning to visit the Tarutao National Park in July - our dates would be between 8th July and 15th July. I wanted to know if the park is open around this time - I am getting conflicting information online. In case the park is not open at this time, it would be great to get some recommendations on other places to visit, hopefully equally beautiful and unpopulated as Ko Tarutao. Also I wanted to check what the best way is to come from Singapore. Thanks, Garima ...

I am looking to stay around the Khao San road district, not necessarily on the road but within a walking distance of it anyway. I am looking for a private room that is under 600 baht, preferably in a Hostel ...

This story may have more political details in it than of interest to your typical traveller, but have a look at the photos! If you're heading to this crossing perhaps reconsider or expect delays (though it's possible tourists are not being affected -- if you've crossed in the past day or two, please let us know...) http://asiancorrespondent.com/123792/over-70000-cambodians-leave-thailand-why/ ...

hi,we plan 2 weeks in kophangan beaches in july(some days after the full moon party), the information isnt so updated about the east cost, we are not looking for luxury hotel at all, even nice bungalow on the beach is nice, we look for some night life- not full moon party but still some night life because we plan on staying 2 weeks, white sand beaches where we can also swim and not just shallow water, and clear water (not the greeny sea color) and calm sea, and if possible not to pay much when w ...

Can anyone recommend any "real" backpacker beaches/places to stay in Thailand?

Posted by Madrileno on 12/6/2014 at 06:01

I am going to Thailand for the first time for July/August. My plan is Bangkok > Surat Thani > Ko Pha Ngang > Krabi > West Coast Islands > Chang Mai and North > Bangkok I'd like to try and stay in places that have a relaxed backpacker atmosphere, where I can access some of the local culture, yet still relatively lively and sociable. I am mainly interested in, eating local food; snorkelling; jungle trekking; watching nature. Does anyone know any beaches like this in the pl ...

THINGS TO DO AROUND CHIANG MAI

Posted by charlottem92 on 20/5/2014 at 11:22

Hi there I visited Chiang Mai for more than a week last summer and didn't really 'feel' this place. It was one of those places people just couldn't stop praising. It quickly became the one place I couldn't wait to explore during my trip around Thailand. Things turned out a little different and I can't help but wrinkle my nose now at the mere thought of Chiang Mai. I'm returning to SEA this summer and I can't persuade my travelbuddy to skip Chiang Mai. So, does anyone have any suggestions on ...

What\'s Travelling Alone in Low Season Like?

Posted by Madrileno on 6/6/2014 at 09:45

Hi there, I am thinking of travelling alone in Thailand in July for about 8 weeks. I know this is low-season, which is cheaper and quieter, but are there still many other people travelling? Is it still just as easy to meet other travellers in low season if you're travelling alone? Are some of the smaller, remote islands still accessible and do tours/excursions still run in low-season? Is there still a fairly lively backpacker scene? Thanks for your answers! *The \ in the title appeared aut ...
