Does anyone recommend doing a loop in northern thailand by rental car? Will be travelling in late july and I'm worried about safety in the winding wet roads. Also think it mi ...

TV Documentary in Thailand

Posted by ThaiDocuTS on 5/3/2014 at 01:12

Are you travelling to Bangkok this month? Or are you already here and soon to make your way home? Then an exciting new TV show wants to hear from you! We're making an observational documentary, based in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, and following young travellers as they arrive in the country, either for work, education or a holiday, and see them off as they leave for home. We'd also love to hear from people already here in Thailand - do you have a story to tell about your experiences in pla ...

Bangkok ---> Ayuttaya day trip

Posted by sarah6969pink on 3/3/2014 at 17:40

Hi All, Just putting some final touches to my honeymoon itinerary - I am looking to do a day trip to Ayuttaya and come back to Bangkok by boat. Am happy to get train (or mini bus) to Ayuttaya myself and then catch a boat back but not sure if this is possible/easy to do? I've been looking at organised day trips which seem reasonable and there seem to be two main boat companies - black pearl and river sun cruise - can anyone let me know which is the better option? thanks ...

Questions for first trip to Bangkok for 4 days

Posted by shanladams82 on 1/3/2014 at 21:53

Hello, I have been reading the material and threads on this forum and there are a few questions that I have. When looking for a hotel to book, are there any areas/streets in Bangkok that we do not want to stay at? Our flight will come in at 12:15am and at the end of the trip our flight leaves at 5:30am. Would it be better to just stay at the airport until dawn and then go into town as opposed to booking a hotel for Monday night and not showing up until 1am or later? Do most hotels allow late ...

Hiya! My name's Brent, and I'm a teacher up here in Chiang Mai. Summer break is coming up, and I'm just looking for someone to travel around the Krabi area with at the beginning of April. Ideally, I'd like to head to koh phi phi, Railay beach, maybe some diving, drinking, dancing, and whatever else. I'm a super laid back guy, originally from Los Angeles, and I'm usually always open to spontaneous changes in itinerary when the occasion calls for it It's always more fun to share a ...

Anyone in Surat Thani ?

Posted by ianintheworld on 25/2/2014 at 09:09

I am in Singapore right now, and wanted to stay at the 100 Island Resort in Surat. I have been emailing for the past few days, but no reply. Wondering, is the hotel still in business, or is it closed, or just being very slack with responding to emails. If anyone can let me know the situation, appreciated. Ian ...

Protests in Bangkok

Posted by buttonbridge on 24/2/2014 at 03:45

Is there anyone on the ground in Bangkok who can give a 'live' update? We have no 'don't go' advice from UK FCO, just to avoid protest sites. Personally I am due in BKK this Thursday and plan to stay 2 nights in a hotel on Sukhumvit Rd near Nana station, before moving out of the city. ...

Overnight sleeper BKK to Chiang Mai.

Posted by buttonbridge on 26/2/2014 at 01:47

Sorry, another question as my trip starts tomorrow. I used the advice given on what I consider to be a very good website to try to sort my train ticket. I dont know if I am allowed to post the link so I will just give a clue - 'the man in seat 61' It suggested emailing them with my requirements, but allow a good 2 weeks as they are notorious in slow email replies. I now realise that it has been over a month and no reply. My question is - Will I be able to get an overnight sleeper with only ...

The international flight is due to land at 8am and the domestic flight is scheduled to depart at 9am. Bangkok airways close the gate 15mins before departure. We will have hold luggae to transfer between the two flights. Has anyone tried this before? Is it possible? Should I expect to be able to make the domestic flight? I've passed t ...

bus from pattaya to kanchanaburi

Are there any direct buses which reach Kanchanaburi from Pattaya apart from Sri Mongkol bus terminal at Chaloem Phrakiat, Pattaya Sai 3. There are only 2 buses one in the morning and one at evening. Taking a taxi is out of question as it is way beyond my budget and I don't want the hassle of going to Bangkok by bus and then again catching another bus to Kanchanaburi. Thanks in advance.[/ulist] ...

Drownings in Ko Samui

Posted by Yorkshire_Kiwi on 24/2/2014 at 07:37

Please be careful if you're visiting Chaweng and enjoy a dip in the sea. I had the unfortunate experience of seeing somone drown today. Although many of us attempted to revive him he sadly passed away. This guy was a fit strong young person. Since this incident I have seen many such stories from Chaweng, it appears to be a common occurrance. Look out for the red flags and warnings, and if they're there DON'T go in! This has affected me greatly, I can only guess what the families feel. Don't let ...

3 weeks in Thailand in may/june

Hi Everybody, I'm planning to spend 3 weeks in Thailand between May 18th and June 8th. In previous holidays I've been in Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia but for some reason, I always skipped Thailand. I will be arriving from Kuala Lumpur and if possible I prefer to avoid Bangkok, since I've been there already (same for Ko Samui). My idea is 2 weeks of sightseeing and 1 week of beach and relax. Starting from Chiang Mai , can somebody suggest an itinerary going south and fin ...

Krabi April/May

Hi All, Am planning honeymoon to SE Asia for next year. So far have 4 nights Hong Kong, then onto Bangkok for 2/3 nights. We know we want some time on a Thai Beach. We've done the Eastern Islands before and whilst we have not ruled out going back we'd rather go to the Western Islands and try Krabi - I'm aware that the weather starts to change there in April, so I'm wondering whether it is worth risking it for April/May time. I know no-one can give us any guarantees weather wise - but just afte ...
