Ao Nang or Krabi or Railay

Posted by kriskeogh on 23/11/2011 at 01:25

Can I have some thoughts and opinions of people that have stayed in Ao Nang as what i'm reading about it isn't ticking any boxes for us. The wife wants to stay in or around Krabi area as the last stop off on our honeymoon and we would have 5 nights there. However the last thing is want is a Thai Benidorm, somewhere cheesy, tacky and people harrassing you on the street. I'd personally rather stay in Krabi town but is this worthwhile or stay on Railay Beach (west?) but there is only a few h ...

Cheap Monthly Rate For Room in Chiang Mai Late January

Posted by monthlyrate on 1/1/2014 at 19:16

I want to find a room in Chiang Mai from 22 January, for a month. I am having trouble finding the monthly rates. I am hoping to spend less than $250USD for the month, including utilities if possible. I don't want to rent a bike so I would prefer to be near the old town, the moat etc. I have been to Chiang Mai twice before and both times I stayed in the Bliss Hotel or Green Hill Place. They are near Nimman Rd and quite expensive ($350+ inc utilities). So, I want to try somewhere else. I would ...

Family of 5 (11,13,&14 yo) looking for accommodations

Posted by Newstarr on 22/3/2014 at 08:13

I could use some help with finding affordable lodging for my family this December. I have emailed home rentals and searched online. I'm Still coming up short. I took my family of 6 (I have 1 in college now and is on her own with travels) backpacking around Europe last summer and averaged around $70 per night on lodging. Places let me double up my kids in beds or let them sleep on couches in rental apartments. I'm emailing people in Ko Lanta who have two bedroom homes with 2 king beds and a cou ...

Random questions about Thailand

Posted by marianaamc on 21/3/2014 at 18:07

Hi everyone. I don't have a definitive question just felt like sharing my thoughts... First of all let me say I'll be traveling to Bangkok in July- August with my boyfriend. I'll have 18 days before i go to Burma for 9 days plus 16 days after. Then I'll leave my boyfriend in Bangkok where he'll do an internship at the restaurant Nahm (he's learning to be a chef) for two weeks and will go to Java during that time to meet my parents that will be in Indonesia (also in Asia for the first time). A ...

Surely not again?!! Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel

Posted by Sparts on 19/3/2014 at 12:14

Good afternoon everyone. I realise this question has been asked a dozen times, but not for a while now. I don't see any harm in me posting this again as the other threads look a little out of date or haven't been aded to in a while. So,...we arrive into Suvarnabhumi Airport around 1pm for an overnight stay. Out flight is at 9am the following day. As we'll be travelling with a toddler we probably don't need the hassle of travelling into the city for only one night. So then, airport hotel recomme ...

Umphang

Posted by Scotsman79 on 23/3/2013 at 22:25

I am currently planning my itinerary for a few weeks in Thailand in November, and as part of my holidays I would like include some trekking. While Chiang Mai seems to very popluar for trekking (and enjoyed my 1 1/2 day stay there last year) for some reason Umphang got my attention. I was thinking heading from Sukhothai to Mae Sot, and then to Umphang, where I would like to do a two or three day trekking, covering the Tee Lor Su waterfall and stay in one of the villages, and spend one or tw ...

Phang Nga onwards travel

Hi I'm trying to squeeze as much as possible into my 2 week trip to Thailand and so wanted a bit of advice on onwards travel from Phang Nga Town, which Googling hasn't provided. I'm staying over in Phang Nga town and then planning a trip around the bay the following day. However, I'm then planning on travelling on to Koh Phangan. My question is whether it will be possible to reach Koh Phangan if setting of early afternoon from Phang Nga (my guess is no), and if not, where would be the best pla ...

Deaths of Quebec women in Thailand may have been caused by pesticide

Posted by somtam2000 on 13/3/2014 at 20:27

Interesting following up on the death of two backpackers on Ko Phi Phi in 2012. Seems pesticides may have been the true cause of their death. "The most likely explanation is the acute intoxication and it is intoxication from the chemical that belong to the pesticide group,-Dr. Pasakron Akarasewi, with Thailand's Ministry of Health, told the CBC/Radio-Canada investigation." Full story here ...

Starting next week I'll have to spend 2-3 weeks in Thailand waiting for my new passport. Some of this time I'll spend in BKK to catch up with friends but where to go for the remaining 7-10 days? I've been many times to Thailand and have seen all the major sites. I'm looking for a single place in Thailand to kick back and read some books. No interest in beach, nor backpacker/ tourist atmosphere, nor extensive travelling (apart from getting there and some day excursions). I'm looking for a place ...

First Days - Bangkok Chiang Mai

Hi everyone. I'm arriving in Bangkok early in the morning on August 16, and while I have a loose idea about what my plans are (I will be in the region from August 16 through September 11), after reading so much on this forum, I've decided that (contrary to my overly-planning ways), I am going to try my best to wing it a bit and see what happens! 33 year old female, just quit my job, first time really traveling alone, not a party animal. Am I out of my mind?! This is going to be AMAZING. So, he ...

Are you travelling to Bangkok this month? Or are you already here and soon to make your way home? Then an exciting new TV show wants to hear from you! We're making an observational documentary, based in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, and following young travellers as they arrive in the country, either for work, education or a holiday, and see them off as they leave for home. We'd also love to hear from people already here in Thailand - do you have a story to tell about your experiences in pla ...

Posted by sarah6969pink on 3/3/2014 at 17:40

Hi All, Just putting some final touches to my honeymoon itinerary - I am looking to do a day trip to Ayuttaya and come back to Bangkok by boat. Am happy to get train (or mini bus) to Ayuttaya myself and then catch a boat back but not sure if this is possible/easy to do? I've been looking at organised day trips which seem reasonable and there seem to be two main boat companies - black pearl and river sun cruise - can anyone let me know which is the better option? thanks ...
