Ko Tarutao in July

Posted by garimagg on 24/6/2014 at 05:55

Hi, A friend and I are planning to visit the Tarutao National Park in July - our dates would be between 8th July and 15th July. I wanted to know if the park is open around this time - I am getting conflicting information online. In case the park is not open at this time, it would be great to get some recommendations on other places to visit, hopefully equally beautiful and unpopulated as Ko Tarutao. Also I wanted to check what the best way is to come from Singapore. Thanks, Garima ...

Hey I am first time solo traveller from Ireland coming to South East Asia for his inaugural visit. I am starting work for an NGO in Hanoi July 7th and have decided to come to Bangkok 2 weeks beforehand. First of all I would really appreciate it if I could get some advice on accommodation. I am looking to stay around the Khao San road district, not necessarily on the road but within a walking distance of it anyway. I am looking for a private room that is under 600 baht, preferably in a Hostel ...

Poipet border crossing

Posted by sambrown on 15/6/2014 at 01:16

This story may have more political details in it than of interest to your typical traveller, but have a look at the photos! If you're heading to this crossing perhaps reconsider or expect delays (though it's possible tourists are not being affected -- if you've crossed in the past day or two, please let us know...) ...

hi,we plan 2 weeks in kophangan beaches in july(some days after the full moon party), the information isnt so updated about the east cost, we are not looking for luxury hotel at all, even nice bungalow on the beach is nice, we look for some night life- not full moon party but still some night life because we plan on staying 2 weeks, white sand beaches where we can also swim and not just shallow water, and clear water (not the greeny sea color) and calm sea, and if possible not to pay much when w ...

Can anyone recommend any "real" backpacker beaches/places to stay in Thailand?

Posted by Madrileno on 12/6/2014 at 06:01

I am going to Thailand for the first time for July/August. My plan is Bangkok > Surat Thani > Ko Pha Ngang > Krabi > West Coast Islands > Chang Mai and North > Bangkok I'd like to try and stay in places that have a relaxed backpacker atmosphere, where I can access some of the local culture, yet still relatively lively and sociable. I am mainly interested in, eating local food; snorkelling; jungle trekking; watching nature. Does anyone know any beaches like this in the pl ...

Hi there I visited Chiang Mai for more than a week last summer and didn't really 'feel' this place. It was one of those places people just couldn't stop praising. It quickly became the one place I couldn't wait to explore during my trip around Thailand. Things turned out a little different and I can't help but wrinkle my nose now at the mere thought of Chiang Mai. I'm returning to SEA this summer and I can't persuade my travelbuddy to skip Chiang Mai. So, does anyone have any suggestions on ...

What\'s Travelling Alone in Low Season Like?

Posted by Madrileno on 6/6/2014 at 09:45

Hi there, I am thinking of travelling alone in Thailand in July for about 8 weeks. I know this is low-season, which is cheaper and quieter, but are there still many other people travelling? Is it still just as easy to meet other travellers in low season if you're travelling alone? Are some of the smaller, remote islands still accessible and do tours/excursions still run in low-season? Is there still a fairly lively backpacker scene? Thanks for your answers! *The \ in the title appeared aut ...

We're a family with a young baby and looking for ideas on how to spend an afternoon in the khao san rd area after we check out of our hotel before catching a night train. We know we could go to a restaurant etc but thought I had read something ages ago about being able to pay a hotel to use their pool. Any ideas on somewhere cool or shady we go could for a few hours? Best Islands for Snorkeling

Posted by Surefolly on 15/5/2014 at 14:33

I'm planning a 3 week trip for my family to Thailand - approximately Feb. 6 - 27. My wife and I went to Koh Tao in 2003 and LOVED it - hands down the best snorkeling experience we've ever had. This trip we are bringing our boys (ages 11 and 8 at time of travel) and are thinking about going back to KohTao, but are also interesting and seeing some islands we've not been to before. What other islands in Thailand compare to Koh Tao when it comes to snorkeling? We've heard good things about Koh Ku ...

Three weeks in July. Help a first time visitor?

Posted by shua73 on 30/5/2014 at 23:06

My wife and I are leaving the kids behind for three weeks and taking a very late honeymoon in July. We have a few things booked in the North (some relaxing after wrapping up teaching for the year). Some trekking, some elephant watching - you know how it goes. Where I'm stuck is planning for the south. The Andaman seems a little wet, and Samui seems a little crowded. We'd love a place to eat great food and enjoy nice beaches. We'd love to experience something totally different than the Cana ...

Khao Yai national park guides

Posted by FrenchArt on 6/5/2012 at 05:47

Has anyone hire a private guide in the Khao Yai national park? We will have a car and being somewhat ancient cannot walk all day, so we would like to hire a guide for a half day - just to go to one of the observation towers - probably the one at km33. We also noted that most of the organised tours go around 0800 and it is our experience in other nature reserves that to see any wildlife it is better to go much earlier. We were thinking of trying to get to the park around 0630, so would like to o ...
