A week on Wednesday I start my trip out, to Borneo for 10 weeks after a few days in KL. Then I'm on to HCMC, and I have 3 weeks to explore Vietnam. I plan to travel from the South to the North and then into the mountainous regions in the North. I will be carrying around 25-30kg of kit (not including any tent so I will need a place to stay each night) . Basically once I arrive in HCM I will need to find somewhere to buy a bike? Any ideas or tips from people would be appreciated. Also I read you ...

I am looking to take a cooking course while I am here in Hoi An for the next four days. I heard that this is a great place to learn. I know there are many to choose from, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or feedback on schools/restaurants they had taken a class with. I want to learn all the basics, and maybe more. Cooking is a favorite hobby of mine and Vietnamese cuisine is something I would like to get a good hold of. ...

If any one is looking to have a bit of a splurge for their accommation in Hoi An, I can recommend The Long Life Riverside hotel, just over the river from the old town. Rooms are $35/night, which put clubs rooms @ the Sheraton to shame. The rooms are massive & absolutely stunning. The latex matresses & pillows are perfect. The bathtub (or spa)are nice. The pool is a great relief @ the end of a hot day. The staff are excellent & speak excellent English (the reception girls have a very ...

Hi All, When in Vietnam, do I pay in VND or USD for things like food, taxi, massage, tours, shopping items etc. I don't want to exchange a ton of USD and then turn around and have to change it back, thus getting screwed on the exchange rate back to AUD. What is the recommended amount to have with me when I hit the airport in both currencies? If there are people out there that can assist, I would be most grateful. As you can see by my question, I don't think I will be able to get away with thin ...
