Finding NGO work in Vietnam

Posted by hfergu on 8/7/2011 at 07:39

Hello there, I'm looking for advice on how to find employment in Vietnam. More specifically, I'm a Canadian looking into the possibility of working for a local Vietnamese NGO or a development agency for a year or two in order to gain more practical experience in my field and to work on a community level. To give a bit of background on my situation: I currently hold a BA in International Development, an MA in Human Geography and an MA in Public Policy and Administration. By the time I'm ready ...

Travel and Tours of Vietnam

Posted by muffworm on 8/7/2011 at 19:26

OK so I've spent days now reading every forum and the good and bad regarding general travel and tours in Vietnam and how everyone is looking to rip you off. What I can make out so far is..... There are a million and one FAKE Sinh Cafes and should try to be avoided at all costs. Kim Travel should be avoided. Delta Adventure Tours should be avoided. Sinhbalo was the originator and founder of the Sinh Cafe and their website is - these are a safe operator to use? Please give ad ...

I’m not sure if it’s better to travel from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi. + Any recommendations for a day trip in Ho Chi Minh and Nha Trang? I know it’s a little early to plan for Sep, ...

Definitely want to experience as much of the country as possible - the mountains, beaches, nightlife, etc. Feel free to get in touch, or if you're simply in Saigon now let's meet for a couple drinks! Arrived at Hanoi Airport today and somehow, after travelling around South East Asia many times and should have been knowing better, but being tired and keen to get to our hostel, we found ourselves in an unmarked "Taxi" after a man in the Terminal building flashed us a "License" without getting even a vauge idea of the cost before hand - Stupid but surprisingly easy mistake when your tired and let your guard down for a moment around these "Taxi" guys. So as w ...

G’Day We will bein SE Asia later this year, and into Vietnam in 2012. We would appreciate your comments and fine-tuning of our itinerary for the Vietnam component of the trip. We will be entering into VN at Ha Noi on February 20 2012. We leave Australia in September 2011 and by our VN t ...

We are going to be in HCMC on 29/30 of AUG and will heading to Siem Reap after that. We fly from SR to Ko Samui on 3Sept, so we have 5 days after we check out of HCMC to get to Siem Reap and see the Ruins. We know that flying from HCMC is an option, but thought since we have some extra travel time we could do something more fun. Has anyone taken a boat up the Mekong River? River cruise Saigon to Phnom Penh/Siem Reap

Posted by amarie on 3/7/2011 at 00:02

Hello, In order to get from Saigon to Phnom Penh , is it best to hire a cruise or to do the trip myself? I was leaning towards taking my own trip but am wondering if anyone could give the details of how to take on the endeavor. I was thinking one night in Can Tho, another in Chau Doc, and finally moving my way up to Phnom Penh. Would anyone recommend this route and if so, what boats would be best to take? Is this route rather easy to complete? Finally, on route to Phnom Penh - Siem Reap, ...
