Arrive in Dong Hoi at 1 PM, any advice to plan a trip?

Posted by Parinya on 7/4/2010 at 23:35

I plan to fly from HCMC to Dong Hoi . I want to visit Phong Nha and Tien Son (dry) cave. After the cave I want to go to Hue and Hoi An, Nha Trang all the way down to HCMC. I also want to visit Vinh Moc Tunnels and the Ben Hai River bridge and monument. What should I do? The plane will arrive in Dong Hoi at 1 PM. I've got to check in the hotel and ready to travel around 2 PM (hopefully). It seems like I won't have time to go to the cave until next day. 1. Is it possilbe to rent a ...

Mai Linh Bus to Can Tho

Posted by nzlup on 11/2/2010 at 11:48

First day in Vietnam after 7 in Cambodia. We got a Mai Linh minibus from Chau Doc to Can Tho. All went pretty well except that at a roadside stop where a Viet passenger got off, a couple of men inserted themselves and started yelling at the foreigners (4 of us in the back) to "get out" , "Can Tho here" and pulling at arms that they could reach to try to pull us out of the bus. I was confused and the 2 girls were very upset to say the least. The driver said nothing and eventually told t ...

Advice on independent Mekong travel with disability?

Posted by delphulia on 5/2/2010 at 07:35

Hi - We're travelling to Cambodia and Vietnam (14 day trip), and would love some advice: we're headed to Siem Reap , Hanoi /Halong Bay and then down to the Mekong delta. However, my boyfriend has limited mobility: in a wheelchair, but uses crutches for steps and short distances. We're thinking about flying to Can Tho, and then making our own way back to HCMC via Tra Vinh/Vinh Long. Any opinions on ways to do this and reasonably accessible things to see in that area? Or are there other part ...

Train Schedule from Da Nang to Hue Reliability?

Posted by hofo_mofo on 7/4/2010 at 03:41

I.E. do the trains run on time? On my way back to Da Nang from Hoi An, instead of flying out of Da Nang to Hanoi , I thought about taking the train from Da Nang to Hue so that I can see the beautiful views along the route; and then from Hue fly to Hanoi in the same day. One thing that is holding back me doing this is the train schedule. There are only 3 non-stop direct flights to Hanoi from Hue so I want to make sure I can make it to Hanoi the earliest as possible, but still see the s ...

Minsk for Sale - Hanoi

Starts, runs, shifts, and stops great. I have had no problems with it, and was told by the guy who sold it to me in Saigon that he had recently replaced the clutch. Tires and bearings are good with no play in the front or rear wheel. Have had a lot of fun with it, especially in the mountain passes. I'm staying in the old quarter of Hanoi near Hang Ga and Hang Ma. $300 US preferred or 5.7 million VND. Post here or email ...

I'm off in a weeks time. I have 25 days & nights to fill from Hanoi to Saigon. I've two nights in Hanoi booked and I want to see Halong Bay and then Ninh Binh before heading down the coast. I'd like to spend a good few days in the Mekong with perhaps a few more spent in Pho Quoc but as for the rest it looks like I will have to wing it. I'm concerned about wasting to much time travelling between locations and taking on too many destinations plus I'm feeling distinctly nervouse about the whol ...
