Important Update - Vietnam Airlines - online booking

Posted by basejump on 11/2/2009 at 17:47

Hi Just thought you would like to be aware that there has been an enhancement to the online booking engine used on the Vietnam Airlines site - the site now allows you to complete your booking in real time using your credit card - you no longer need to book in Vietnam or use a local agent. I have checked this for domestic flights - not sure it has been turned on yet for international but that is on their agenda. ...

Motorbike Hoi An to Hue

Posted by KazAussie on 8/9/2009 at 14:40

Hi all, Is it possible to hire motorbikes for a one way trip from Hoi An to Hue? If so, what route would you suggest we take and what should we see on the way. I know the bus is about 3.5 hours, so I thought that we could spend a day travelling (or even overnight somewhere along the way), but what are the highlights - must not misses? Very grateful for your advice. ...

Flights to/from Bangkok

Posted by dan567 on 9/9/2009 at 19:18

I plan on spending around 30 days in Vietnam flying in from Bangkok and then flying back to Bangkok again. I've looked at flights and it seems to be about 2800 baht each way. Is it a reasonable plan to fly in to Hanoi 1st October, get to Ho Chi Minh City and then fly from there back to Bangkok? Is there any way I can get the flights cheaper, say just by turning up at the airport on the day? Thanks! ...

Storing luggage in Ha Noi

Posted by wanderlust13 on 7/9/2009 at 09:21

Hi Travelfishers! I'm arriving in Ha Noi today and in a few days will be doing a Halong Bay tour. I'd like to store my suitcase somewhere and go to the bay with just a backpack. Any suggestions on a safe place to store my luggage? Would the hotel I'm staying at be an appropriate, safe location? (I'm returning to Hanoi after Halong Bay, so I can always stay there again if that guarantees bag safety.) Many thanks! Anna ...

Legit Livitrans?

Posted by justwondering on 7/9/2009 at 07:38

I was under the impression that all of the private trains to Sapa needed to be booked through an agent or hotel, but I stumbled across this website for Livitrans (www.livitrans.com) which says their head ticketing office is in the Mango Hotel lobby and you can book direct with them. Does anyone know if this is legit or is it just Mango Hotel having a go? Their prices seem about right from what I can figure. ...

How would you improve tourism in Vietnam?

Posted by somtam2000 on 10/8/2009 at 10:40

When Vietnam News recently asked readers to contribute their thoughts on how Vietnam's tourism could be improved, one of the people behind Saigon-based tour agency, Come & Go Vietnam, penned his thoughts. Find below the full letter below reprinted with the kind permission of Come & Go Vietnam. Vietnam's tourism problems are internal, not external. Foreign tourists are aware of Vietnam and its attractions, but more needs to be done domestically to make it easier for tourists to visit Vietna ...
