Mai Chau, Halong Bay or Sapa?

Posted by mhlow on 28/6/2009 at 18:53

Hey. My girlfriend and i are going to spend 6 nights in Hanoi. We've narrowed it down to doing 2 out of the 3 places above. Any suggestions?? Also, has anyone had any experience with Trekkingtravel tour agency for tours to Halong Bay? Heard it isn't too bad. It seems Columbus tours is pretty good but just a bit to expensive for us. Thanks ...

Muong Lay - Lai Chau, which is which now?

Posted by anhluc on 27/6/2009 at 01:45

I'm still a bit confused an I know somebody has the answer. Is the old Lai Chau which is closer to Sa Pa on the map, now or is it going to be Muong Lay ? Or, is Muong Lay which is closer to Dien Bien on the map, now or is it going to be Lai Chau. I guess the easier question is which one is going to be under water soon and is the sight of the hydro electric plant and dam? Just a stretch here, but does anyone know the travel time between Dien Bien to Muong Lay, Muong Lay to Lai Chau, an ...

Trains Hue-Hanoi sold out in august? Please help

Posted by muggel on 20/6/2009 at 20:36

In a german Vietnam forum, somebody told, that there are now "free" tickets for august, only tickets from travel-agencys. We need a nighttrain Hue -Hanoi for a fixed date end of august. Is it a risk, to try buying this at the Hue station 2 days in advance? Who knows a good travelagency with resonable prices in Hue (delivering the ticket to our hotel) Please advise me something, I worry about this, muggel ...

Posted by satori_kicks on 12/6/2009 at 17:39

Hello again, When in Vietnam (in September), me and a mate are hoping to visit Cat Tien National Park. We'll be traveling from Da Lat . Wondering if being part of a tour (e.g. meeting one from Ho Chi Minh at the park) or just doing our thing is the best idea. So, a few questions, 1) When travelling from Da Lat to the national park, can you get dropped of somewhere accessible quite easily? 2) What is accomodation like there? 3) Can you get involved in those night wildlife tours indepe ...

First timer, advice much appreciated!

Hi everyone, My girlfriend and I have about 2 weeks to travel, and would like to see Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. I know there's not enough time to see all 3 places and we want to make the best use of our time. Due to time constraints, we have to arrive on July 12th and leave on the 25th. Here are a few questions we have: 1. We're aware that July is the monsoon season in that area, but we've also heard that while it rains everyday, the rain is usually bracketed by periods of sunshine an ...

So much to do in so little time! Help please!

Posted by fcottle on 21/6/2009 at 01:04

Hi there, Firstly, I need some advice. My boyfriend and I are arriving into Saigon (by air) at 2am from China. I'm not sure whether I should book a place first online, which I know I will pay more for. I don't mind paying a few dollars more if it means I have a bed to go to once I arrive. However, I've read in numerous places that taxi drivers are inclined to tell you various things about the hostel/hotel you've booked to attempt to take you somewhere with commission. Basically, does anyone k ...

Thoughts on my Vietnam itinerary

Posted by Rohan on 16/6/2009 at 10:38

I will be traveling to Vietnam with a side trip to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat in late December/January. This will be my first trip to South East Asia. I am interested in the cultural and historical side of the countries rather than lounging around on beaches and partying. I also have a strong interest in trying the regional cuisine, and am looking at getting some clothes tailored in Hoi An. I am thinking of the following itinerary: 27/12 - Arrive Saigon 28/12 - Saigon, O/N train to H ...
