Plane or boat to Phu Quoc?

Posted by EmBees on 14/12/2008 at 05:06

I am flying into HCMC in mid-February to begin 5 weeks travel. I'll mostly be in Cambodia and Laos but am hoping to spend the first week or so on the Mekong and Phu Quoc. I know I can fly directly to Phu Quoc from HCMC (and skip exploring that city until the end of the trip - in order to recover on the beach from my very long flight). But I am also hoping to see some combination of Cai Be, Can Tho, and Chau Doc (from which I could proceed to Phnom Penh by boat - I think?). So, is there a more ...

Hello to those who have traveled from Vietnam to Laos. My husband and I are in Saigon but making out way up the coast and want to eventually slide over to Laos and on to LP. Our visa expires in 12 days so we need to make a move quick but want to see Nha Trang and Hoi An for sure first before we go over into Laos. If anyone has done the trip overland and could share their story that would be awesome! Also please include if a Visa On Arrival was issued @ the boarder crossing into Laos. Thanks!!! ...

Just Back from Hanoi & Sapa

Posted by Bello on 25/11/2008 at 21:53

Good experience taking train from Hanoi train station to Lao Cai train station. Had a night in hard sleeper type. ooh.. 6 beds in a cabin. imagine that.. 2 of us sharing with 4 'strangers-friends' in a cabin. Sapa-nice weather & sceneries. however, too many sales people surrounding. Still prefer Hoian than Hanoi as the latter is more laid back & relaxing. Weather is ok. No rainy day. bello ...
