Where to find self-operated washing machines in Hoi An

Posted by Sophiacollins on 26/3/2015 at 01:10

Hi, this is a bit of a random question, but I hope someone can help. We are in Hoi An for a few days and need to get some laundry done. Are there coin-operated washing machines anywhere here, that you can operate yourself? Do they exist at all in Vietnam? We found these most places in Thailand, but I haven't seen any yet in Vietnam. I know we can get laundry done loads of places, but we have a toddler and use reusable nappies and I don't feel comfortable getting other people to deal with his ...

Good and calm sweeming beaches in March-April

Posted by ybg on 15/2/2015 at 08:38

Hi We are looking for a good beach with calm waters to spend about a week either on end-March or beginning-mid April. I have searched the forums etc, saw the recommendations for Phu Quoc Island, but not sure how are the waters there this time of the year (saw some pics with quite big waves). We are traveling with a 6y.o. and while he sweems very well in the pool, we would like to get him used to seem in the sea/ocean and want to do it without dangerous waves etc. We would also like to do some ni ...

Petrol Stations - Mui Ne to Da Lat

Posted by ewenco on 11/3/2015 at 06:49

Hi, I am travelling this Sunday from Mui Ne to Da Lat. I aim to head west out of Mui Ne, past the white sand tunes, then north to Highway 1. Once on Highway 1 I am going to turn immediately left on QL28B (Luong Trung>Dai Ninh Road) which runs for about 60km through the mountains to Highway 20. I will fill up at Highway 1 but does anyone know if there are filling stations on this stretch of road? I don't want to be caught short through the mountains, and ideally don't want to carry petrol in ...

Mekong Delta Banana Boats

Posted by mekong2014 on 22/2/2015 at 02:56

This is a wonderful trip if you are not worried about spending a little money and like taking your time and getting away from generic tourism, if you want to take a real banana/coconut boat down stream from the charming boarder town of Chau Doc to Can Tho then read on... There are no companies offering this trip but there are some "fixers" who can hook you up with a boat that has off loaded their cargo and can take you for the 6 hour trip chugging downstream the next morning, if y ...

Problems with C1 tourist visa at border

Posted by meyerm18 on 18/2/2015 at 20:28

Hello! My friend and I are from the U.S. currently traveling SE Asia. We obtained our Vietnam visas through the Vietnam embassy in Australia as that is where we were living at the time before traveling. We are now traveling by bus from Phnom Penh to ho chi Minh and our bus attendant has just told us that because our visas are categorized as C1, we will have to obtain a new visa once we arrive at the border. Any insight as to if this is legitimate, or actually just a scam would be appreciated! ...

Shipping baggage within Vietnam

Posted by baeb66 on 21/2/2015 at 04:53

If anyone could help me with this, I would be greatly appreciative. I am currently in Hanoi. I would like to buy or rent a motorbike and travel South to HCMC. Ideally, I would like to ship my big bag, which weighs around 20 kilos, and live out of the small bag for the ride South. Does anyone know of any services that will ship my bag and hold it for me for around 12 days? Most of the services I have found are for shipping things from foreign countries to Vietnam, not within the country. ...

I'm looking to go to Sapa in February 2015, I'm a 21Female travelling alone, and I usually prefer to organise my own treks, itineraries etc, but it seems Sapa might be better in authenticity, convenience and cost if i went through a tour. I want to visit Sunday Bac Ha markets, and do treks outside Sapa, Cat cat touristic areas, but it might be hard without a tour to get to these rural places. I wanted to stay at homestays and live and experience their life for the 3 days. Can anyone advice ...

North Vietnam Only Itinerary

Posted by bfritz on 28/1/2015 at 18:33

Hello everybody, My girlfriend and I will be traveling to North Vietnam in late March/early April for about two and a half weeks. We fly in and out of Hanoi and based on everything we've read (most of it here), we've decided to limit ourselves to the North. We prefer to not bounce around too much and enjoy experiencing local culture, food, drink, and the countryside. Here is what we are thinking thus far: Hanoi: 4/5 days Ha Long Bay: 2 days/1 night Sapa: 3 days Ninh Binh and surrounding a ...
