anyone interested in sharing a driver to Cu Chi tunnels?

Posted by yahela on 9/5/2015 at 20:41

Hi there We (an Israeli couple, early 30s) are in HCMC until early Thursday morning. We want to visit Cu Chi tunnels, and would rather do it with a private driver, so that we can get there early and beast the crowds. Is there anyone who'd like to join us and split the cost? It's supposed to cost about 800,000 VND. Alternatively, anyone familiar with a tour that departs really early? Thanks, have a great week ...

Recommemdation for Mekong Delta

Posted by danyagreenfield on 19/5/2015 at 07:32

My brother and I are traveling for a week in Vietnam in early June and would like to experience a bit of village life. Is there a town, perhaps with a floating market, that we could visit from Ho Chi Minh City as a day trip, within a 1-2 hour bus ride? Alternatively, we could stop somewhere on our return from Phu Qouc (take ferry to Ha Tien then a bus to somewhere in the delta, spend the night, and continue by bus to HCMC) Any suggestions of where would be nice to stop? I'd rather not go to ...

Safe for Chinese-American to travel in Vietnam given current conflict?

Posted by shise24 on 28/5/2014 at 11:51

So I'm about to go on a trip to SE Asia, where we'll be spending about a week in Hanoi / Sa Pa at the end of June. It's a group of 6 girls, and 2 of us are Chinese-Americans, the rest are white Americans. Given the recent anti-Chinese rioting and violence that has been popping up due to the oil rig territorial dispute, we're wondering if it is still safe for us to travel to these places? How is the Vietnamese government handling the violence? Is it occurring in the urban and touristy areas, ju ...

Halong cruises - better to book in Hanoi or in Halong?

Posted by juliee on 6/5/2015 at 13:54

Hi, We are going to Vietnam from the end of June to Mid-July. We are going to spend a few days in Hoi An. As the train seems very slow to get to Hanoi , we were thinking of flying. I've read online that it's better not to book Halong cruises online as they will be more expensive. Is it better to book in Hanoi or in Halong? By flying into Halong we would save travelling time and I feel like it would me more efficient. Especially since we were thinking of taking the overnight bus to Sapa onc ...

Hoi An, Danang or Hue??

Posted by Benno on 9/2/2012 at 17:48

Hi, As our plans evolve the more questions turn up. We have 3 days in central Vietnam and would like to know the best place town to stay at, Hue, Danang or Hoi An? The criteria for the Mrs is primarily beach/sun relaxing and I like to wander with the camera and explore. I don't need a new suit or shoes made and buying crafts don't really interst us, I'm looking more at 'the vibe' of Vietnam coupled with a nice beach for snorkelling (if there is such a place around the area). We are looking to t ...

Mekong Delta cruise from Phnom Penh to HCMC

Posted by noratw9 on 24/2/2015 at 11:17

Hi everyone, My boyfriend are planning a 5-week trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam in June-July. Our plans are very tight since we're trying to see a lot, but I feel confident about most of our plans so far. However, we are trying to get from Kampot, Cambodia to HCMC. We planned on doing a 2d/1n Mekong Delta tour during our time in HCMC, but I was looking around online a bit and noticed that some tour guides offer a 3d/2n cruise from PP to HCMC! This would, logistically, be completely perf ...

Vietnam travel October - November

Myself and my partner - both in out late 20s will be traveling to Vietnam for 11 days. I have laid out a rough itinerary for our stay and would greatly appreciate any suggestions/improvements to our plans. We want to keep several of the days open and relaxed, without too many specific plans. We also want to limit the number of hours/days we spend traveling place to place. My main questions are - should I spend this much time in Ho Chi Minh, or should I focus only on Hanoi ? What are can't miss ...

Posted by Nomad85 on 7/3/2015 at 04:40

Hi, I've already posted in the Laos forum as my boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to Southeast Asia and couldn't really decide between Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. At the moment we are leaning towards Vietnam and thinking about how our itinerary could look like. We will probably travel for 17 or 18 days in June. We are considering limiting our travels to Northern Vietnam as we don't want to rush and prefer staying at each place for at least 2 days. These are the places we are intereste ...
