Hello , me and my brother are considering motorbiking vietnam from 25th july - 16th august , obviously it is the rainy season however I wondered if anybody had experience to how much this actually affected their travelling ? With tropical weather I understand you just get a downpour for part of the day but will this affect the roads through the whole of the month making riding quite unenjoyable. Vietnam on a motorcycle!

Posted by jonvdh on 11/6/2014 at 12:18

Hey guys, I have to firstly say that I've been reading some brilliant adventures and trip ideas on this forum. Nothing beats going beyond the sites you so often hear about in travel brochures and really uncovering the naked reality of a different culture and place. This past year I was able to motorcycle across Vietnam on a 100cc lawn-mower engine motorcycle. Jokes a-side, it was probably the biggest adventure I've been on and experienced. I'd really love to help and share tales and tips wi ...

Currency problems

Posted by teenytiny111 on 19/7/2014 at 05:44

I am a single traveller, starting my first adventure this August (2014). I'm backpacking around Australia but my stopover is in Vietnam and I will be in the airport for about 13 hours. I will be at the airport in Ho Chi Minh City and I have a question about the currency I could use whilst I'm waiting for my connecting flight. I know that the Dong is used but can I use any other currency whilst I'm waiting at the airport? Dollars or Pounds? Or should I get some VND? Any advice would be really ...

Hi: I just found this website today and would like to know what exactly is open tour bus. I will spend 2 weeks in Vietnam this October and in the process of planning our trip. I want to go to Hanoi and visit Hay Long. I saw some negative posts regarding Hay Long excursions. What are the pitfalls I should be aware of when going on a cruise/ferry ride and explore different scenic stops along the way? There will be us two girls going, so safety will be an important consideration. I am ...

Hanoi to HCMC in 3 weeks

Posted by holty88 on 3/6/2014 at 23:42

Hi, I'm planning on driving from Hanoi to HCMC early July and would like some suggestions on places that are a 'must see'. I'm partial to a crazy night but the main purpose of my trip is to soak up some of the scenery. I don't have a route planned as yet so if anyone has already done this trip and could recommend places to see and miss that would be great. I've already been told Hoi An, Hue, and Dalat are great places to visit but want to sound out some more. Also would it be best to buy o ...

Vietnam - Itinerary help?

Posted by caroquette on 20/5/2014 at 13:15

Hey guys, So, I'm going with my boyfriend to Southeast Asia for one month. We're arriving first in Hanoi and staying there for one week. Any advice on what to visit? Where to stay? Shall I always stay in Hanoi? PS - Comments like "you're stupid for only staying one week" etc (as I've heard before, here...) are not necessary since it is the only time I've got to spend. Thank you so much for your time ...

I'm flying into Ho Chi Minh on 24th July 2014, and I fly out of Hanoi on 5th Aug and am looking for a travel companion to cycle with me for most/part of the journey. I'm in my late 30s and am quite fit, but I'm not taking this too seriously. I'm hoping it'll be a fun/active holiday. Any tips for doing this trip? Rout ...

Halong Bay Advice plus Sapa

Posted by Bridgequeen on 1/6/2014 at 16:25

Hi I am planning a solo trip to Hanoi in October/ November in order to visit Halong Bay. Having read some of the posts on this forum I may also include Sapa so my questions are: 1 Can anyone recommend a good Halong Bay Cruise? I am not very fit so not able to clamber over other boats to board and do not relish the idea of carrying my own luggage down treacherous steps. Whilst I am budget conscious, I am prepared to pay more for this section of the trip. Also, I have heard that it is cheaper ...
