Road from Nha Trang to Dalat

Posted by claire87uk on 21/4/2014 at 06:49

Hi all, we are going on honeymoon to Vietnam in 3 weeks, and will be staying in Hanoi for 2 nights then Nha Trang for 10. I thought we might break up the stay in Nha Trang by going to Dalat for 2 nights. I have a question about the new road between the two - we will probably take the bus - does the road have a lot of steep drops on the edges/barriers? I know this seems trivial but I had a scary experience elsewhere in a coach on a high up mountain road and not sure I can cope with my fear of ...

Stranded in Tam Dao hellhole! urgent advice please!

Posted by Flowertot on 22/4/2014 at 04:45

If anyone familiar with the area can help. I will be so grateful! Basically, my volunteer placement in the area went pear shaped and I had to strike out on my own. Have landed up in Tam Dao which I thought was a town but is actually a tiny village. It is swathed in the thickest fog I have ever seen and the fog has been seeping into the whole hotel and my room for 2 days. Everything including my sheets are damp, and water is pooling on the floor. It is too foggy to even venture out to explore. Ca ...

3-4 week trip - first timer advice needed!

Posted by Katie2952 on 10/3/2014 at 17:23

Hi, I do apologise for any silly questions but I am in the very early stages of planning a solo trip leaving mid July and back mid August and I have never done anything like this before. Firstly before I ask for your much needed advice i'll tell you what kind of trip I'd like.... Fairly relaxed, not too much rushing around, spontaneous but safe. I will be alone but i'm desperate to lose my habit of over planning trips. I would love a fair bit of beach time. I need to keep the trip fairly cheap ...

Hoi An - Warning - Stay away from Lin Lin tailors!

Posted by bretandgerri on 21/3/2010 at 16:14

I have been royally ripped-off in Hoi An by Lin Lin tailors (22 Tran Phu St, opposite the market). Partly my naivety; I broke my golden rule and didn't shop around, but went straight there and was sucked in by the gorgeous sweet kind sales lady (who strangely wouldn't give her name!) got measured up for a bunch of stuff, which she was vague about the price of, and then she told me these 6 items would come to $380 US!!! I just about died. She let me off with $330, and I stupidly paid a deposit, ...

We are looking to book our first trip to Vietnam next March and we are really unsure of which places to visit! We would like to spend a couple of days in Ho Chi Min City, maybe a couple of days in Hanoi and also a trip along Halong Bay and then 7-10 days in a beach resort, maybe Nha Trang? Any advice on this? Does this seem a good choice of places and if so what are the best things to look out for and to do in these places?? Any help would be appreciated. ...

Trekking in Sapa

Posted by marianaamc on 13/4/2014 at 17:48

I'm doing to Sapa and I'm still undecided if I should do a 3d2n trek or a 2d1n trek. But that's not really my question, I guess I'll decide depending on the feedback from my real question: I saw some maps of the villages surrounding Sapa but I'm finding really difficult to find information regarding them independently. And most trekking companies offer different treks, with the same time frame, without describing the differences between them besides the difficulty. I don't really mind doing a ...
