Rules/safety tips for eating and drinking in Hoi An please

Posted by BrigZapps on 11/2/2014 at 21:29

The street food in Hoi An sounds amazing! We are spending time in Hoi An in July this year. My question is, how safe is it all to eat? We have travelled to Bali & Thailand before and have followed all the rules eg, only bottled water, no raw salad, no ice, only ate in busy restaurants and never ate from street vendors etc. We are travelling with our teenagers, and would like to try the local food and drinks from vendors and markets, but would appreciate any tips regarding do's and dont' ...

Danang train station to Hoi An

Posted by TerroirTravel on 16/2/2014 at 23:22

Hi, This seems to be a common trip, but I couldn't find any recent posts. I'm taking the train from Nha Trang to Danang, and would like to catch a bus down to Hoi An. I'm on the SE22, that gets to Danang around 7:00 am. I see a note on the Transport link to catch the bus on Le Duan street near the crossroads with the street opposite the train station (looks like that's Hoang Hoa Tram on my map). That was a 3 year old comment- is this still the case? Any other tips happily appreciated, thanks ...

Posted by Magnusteo on 15/2/2014 at 18:52

Hi everyone! I am planning my two months trip all around Asia for this summer but I have some problem to find the right information about the crossing border between South-Cambodia and Vietnam. I would like to go directly to Ho Chi Minh City FROM Sen Monorom by bus/train..is it possible? If not, what can I do? Because I will visit the Elephant Valley Project after PP and I think that going back again to PP would be a huge waste of time. Thanks in advance!! ...

Vietnam to Laos - Crossing at the Bo Y border....transport.

Posted by qifitness on 21/2/2014 at 11:59

Hi Guys I Hope someone here can help. I've come across plenty of forums advice about getting from Laos into Vietnam, but not the other way around. I want to go from Kontum province into Laos, through the border at Bo Y, and on to Attapeu. There seems to be a Mail Linh Express bus that does this journey direct from Pleiku, but I've not been able to find out schedules....where it stops for pickups or details for the border crossing. Also, I've come across suggestions that there are Lao ...

Cash, Cards & ATMs

Posted by Bigianws on 22/2/2014 at 00:46

Hi All My wife and myself will be having 19 days travelling around in Vietnam next month. All of our hotels and our expensive trips, Mekong Delta Cruise & Halong Bay Cruise, have been booked and paid for so we do not need large sums of money. We will, however, need spending money for meals, incidentals along with some travel (Danang to Hoi An to Hue to Danang). I think I understand the US dollar v Dong issue but what about ATMs & Credit Card use? Basically should we take a lot of ...

My spouse and I are planning a SEA trip and within this month long trip, we've allocated 9 days in Vietnam and Cambodia. We will be arriving at HCMC on April 20th, 2014 at 1:30 pm. We plan to fly out to Hong Kong on April 29th at 10:50 am. This will be our first time in Vietnam and to be honest...I have no idea what to expect. I've done some research and there are some place that we'd really like to see. 1. Ho Chi Minh City 2. Phnom Penh (around Cambodia if possible) 3. Nha Trang My question ...

Where to stay for relaxing week?

Posted by gregmacc on 29/1/2014 at 16:59

Hi all ... New member here ... Looking for suggestions, My wife and I (Australians in our mid fifties ) have had a stressful few years dealing with family issues and need to get away from it all for a week ... It doesn't have to be now ... September or October would be perfect. My wife doesn't do well in high humidity though so we realise that will restrict our seasonal timing options. In terms of our travel history it has all been independent. We are passionate cyclists and have done extensive ...

I'd very much appreciate some itinerary feedback for an upcoming Vietnam trip, thanks to all who brave this wall of text. I've put a bit of info about us so you know what we're about, and I've listed our itinerary with questions in italics About us: Couple, 29 and 31, second trip to Vietnam. We've previously traveled through Asia for 7 months, so we can handle squat toilets and cockroach roommates when required. My wife is originally from Vietnam and still speaks Vietnamese (at the level of a s ...

'Easyriders' and other motorbike tours...? Other tips?

Posted by ihatewinter on 15/2/2014 at 18:15

Hey guys. I'm travelling with my girlfriend through Vietnam for three weeks in March. We're flying into Hanoi and flying out of Ho Chi Minh. I love doing adventure/off-the-beaten-path stuff, and hate throngs of tourists. Based on what I've read, doing some touring with 'Easyriders' and any of the other hundreds of motorbike tours seems like the way to go to see what most tourists wouldn't otherwise see. Also, I love motorbikes and have a lot of experience on two wheels, so I've found that it' ...

Mui Ne Easy Riders

I decided to look into motorbikes while in Vietnam after reading about the central highlands before our trip. I found River's Easy Rider website (http://www.vietnameasyrider.com/) and contacted him, he responded quickly after every email and custom-designed our trip from Mui Ne to Nha Trang over three days fitting our needs (several of us wanted to ride our own motorbikes and others wanted to be passengers). Our group of 7 loved every minute of it and we saw some things and met people we ...

Vietnam questions with possible northern itinerary

Posted by marianaamc on 18/1/2014 at 16:44

So after getting really confused about how to make the most of my time in SEA I decided to leave Laos aside and go to Vietnam. My first idea was to do Chiang mai - LN -LP - NK/Muang Ngoi - VV - Vientiane - BKK but with less than 15days and a lot of day light traveling around I decided to leave it for another time. So, nature culture and food are the things that interest me the most in that order. I like beautiful landscapes and I think that is why Vietnam looks so good to me. I have to say tha ...

First time backpackers / 2.5 week itinerary

Hi, My wife and I are planning a trip to Vietnam in December this year. We have return flights booked to Ho Chi Minh City and about 20 days between arriving and leaving. We have put together a rough plan of where we think we can go in the time, without rushing too much. Just wanted to know if this is do-able, rushed / or if we need to do more/less. Final query... is $75 USD per person enough per day, to include hotel/food/activities/travel ? We can exclude plane fares as we can book these b ...
