Tour mafia in Can Tho

Posted by Skyla on 18/3/2014 at 04:21

Hello there, We are currently in Can Tho and tried to book a tour in the surroundings with a reputable tour company over the internet. We are a bit shocked of the stories they told us about the situation here in Can Tho with the "Tour Mafia" or "Gangsters" as they call them. We were refused to book the tour, because the hotel we are staying at, doesn't provide Floating Market tours themselves. Apparently we are always followed and observed when we are going out by members ...

Hoi An Golden Sands Resort renovations?

Posted by BrigZapps on 9/2/2014 at 22:27

Hi everyone, We are a family from Western Australia travelling to Hoi An, Vietnam in July 2014 (2 adults, 2 teenagers). We are booked in at the Swiss Bel Golden Sands Resort for 10 days. I understand that they don't have much of a beach left after storms in November 2013, but I can't seem to get a reassuring answer on renovations happening within the rest of the hotel. Reports vary between pool bar closed to pool bar, entire pool, rooms under construction and half the hotel being closed? I wou ...

Dalat Easy Riders

Posted by Fattymac on 3/2/2010 at 08:38

I booked a 7 day tour through and did it in January. They are the real deal. I had numerous email communications with them and they were ready and waiting for me in Dalat. We discussed the tour over a beer in Dalat and were ready to go the next day. There were three of us (2 guides) and we had the best time riding through the highlands. Ended up in Hue but wished we went all the way to Hanoi. I would do it again in a pinch. Here is my ...

Mekong Delta - organized bike tour or explore on our own?

Posted by Dorotich on 7/3/2014 at 17:44

Hello everyone; I have just been doing some reading about exploring the Mekong Delta. We were considering a homestay in Can Tho and exploring the area on our own. And then we came across the idea of an organized bicycle tour out of HCMC with I am curious if anyone has done a 2 or 3 day bike trip of the region and how that might compare to simply meandering about on our own. Your thoughts? Paul ...

Rules/safety tips for eating and drinking in Hoi An please

Posted by BrigZapps on 11/2/2014 at 21:29

The street food in Hoi An sounds amazing! We are spending time in Hoi An in July this year. My question is, how safe is it all to eat? We have travelled to Bali & Thailand before and have followed all the rules eg, only bottled water, no raw salad, no ice, only ate in busy restaurants and never ate from street vendors etc. We are travelling with our teenagers, and would like to try the local food and drinks from vendors and markets, but would appreciate any tips regarding do's and dont' ...

Danang train station to Hoi An

Posted by TerroirTravel on 16/2/2014 at 23:22

Hi, This seems to be a common trip, but I couldn't find any recent posts. I'm taking the train from Nha Trang to Danang, and would like to catch a bus down to Hoi An. I'm on the SE22, that gets to Danang around 7:00 am. I see a note on the Transport link to catch the bus on Le Duan street near the crossroads with the street opposite the train station (looks like that's Hoang Hoa Tram on my map). That was a 3 year old comment- is this still the case? Any other tips happily appreciated, thanks ...

I want to go from Kontum province into Laos, through the border at Bo Y, and on to Attapeu. There seems to be a Mail Linh Express bus that does this journey direct from Pleiku, but I've not been able to find out schedules....where it stops for pickups or details for the border crossing. Also, I've come across suggestions that there are Lao ...

Hi All My wife and myself will be having 19 days travelling around in Vietnam next month. All of our hotels and our expensive trips, Mekong Delta Cruise & Halong Bay Cruise, have been booked and paid for so we do not need large sums of money. We will, however, need spending money for meals, incidentals along with some travel (Danang to Hoi An to Hue to Danang). I think I understand the US dollar v Dong issue but what about ATMs & Credit Card use? Basically should we take a lot of ...

Hi all ... New member here ... It doesn't have to be now ... September or October would be perfect. My wife doesn't do well in high humidity though so we realise that will restrict our seasonal timing options. In terms of our travel history it has all been independent. We are passionate cyclists and have done extensive ...
