Weasel coffee not allowed in by Australian Quarantine

Posted by sanpedro on 3/2/2010 at 19:07

We have just got back from Vietnam and had our package of Weasel Coffee confiscated at quarantine when we declared it on arrival in Australia. Just thought I would let people know as this is a recent change that occurred on 15 Jan 2010 and isn't on the AQIS factsheets they only mention raw or green coffee beans. Heres the details: http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_topiccontent.asp?TopicType=Quarantine+Alert&TopicID=22904 ...

Sagion to Rach Gia by boat

Posted by Stuke on 10/8/2013 at 19:45

Can anyone tell me if there is a boat ride to Rach Gia that ISN'T a cabin boat ? Can you hire a boat to ride you down to the floating markets and then take a taxi into Rach Gia ? Or is it only freighter boats ? We don't want to spend a ton of monies offered by the tour operators of house boats. They seem like very nice boats, but are very expensive and take too long. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time & consideration ...

Cambodia and Vietnam

Posted by NH0510 on 9/8/2013 at 07:54

Hi I am planning on travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia in November with a friend of mine. We only have 7 days and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to what the "must see" places are in both of these countries. We would like to experience the culture, do some market shopping, sight-seeing and also include some time on the beach. Any suggestions would be welcome. Would it be a better experience to rather only visit one of these destinations instead of both? ...

Hello, I'll be traveling in Vietnam in January and would like to do a 4-5 day trip to a remote island chain. I've heard that the Con Dao Island system is spectacular. Are there any other island trips that anyone would recommend that are off the beaten path? We'll likely be interested in trekking around, snorkeling, diving, and beach combing. Thanks for any advice! Cell Phone Use in Vietnam & general safety

My daughter is travelling to Vietnam soon for 3 months with a world wide youth group. I ordered a sim card online for her that will 'supposedly' soon get here (Canada). They promote these sim cards by saying "get it before you go so your friends and family will have your number etc...before you leave". It was $50 or so with special speedy delivery. Taxi Costs - Hanoi Airport

I be interested in an update on taxii costs from Hanio Airport to the Old Quarter. Putting aside the potential scammers, I have read elsewhere that the going rate is now $16US not $10 as detailed here in the Hanio pages...another person said that there is an "offical Vietnam Airlines" service which is $18. Anyway if anyone has used a taxi on this trip recently, an update on the cost wou ...

I also have a few questions. 20/08 - Arrival in Hanoi around 8 p.m. 21/08 - Hanoi (book the Halong Bay at Indochina Junk or Halong Fantasea Cruise 3 days - 2 nights) Question: are these cruises good? My flight from Luang Prabang arrives in Hanoi at 6pm, allowing me to arrive in Hanoi at best 8pm (there are no earlier flights). I am planning on doing a 2 day/1 night trip to Halong Bay. Snorkeling in Vietnam - what about Ca Na (South Central Coast)?

Posted by Foolslena on 19/7/2013 at 09:29

As many guide books recommend this location as it is "said to be one of the best snorkeling and diving spots", I would like to know if anyone has actually tried ...

Welcome to Vietnam - Our first 48 hours (Yet another story about scams)

Posted by Travellincouple on 8/7/2013 at 04:27

After travelling around SEA for two months scam free, we (a couple) were excited for our trip to Vietnam. Sure it is commonplace in SEA to be overcharged and given the incorrect change and when this happens, we smile and move on knowing the money will go further for the person that has taken it than it will for us (not that this makes it right, but maybe this is a culture thing?). Now travelling for two months in SEA and staying scam free means that we have done extensive research on what to lo ...
