cost of visa

Posted by Joanna_S on 2/10/2012 at 07:25

Hi, I currently applied for a visa to Vietnam. I admit, I didn't read the information on the website correctly and thinking that the prices given there were for a visa (they were actually for a postage) sent a cheque for £12. To my surprise the embassy called me saying that the price is £44 (!) I looked on the net again and it in fact says that you need to contact them before applying to get a current fee. Also, no website has any specific information about the cost. How did you apply for ...

Vietnam in November

Posted by Geer1 on 22/9/2012 at 00:00

I had been thinking about going to Vietnam in November but just realized that much of the coast is in monsoon season then. My plan was Hanoi - Ha Long - Hue - Hoi An - Nha Trang - Da Lat - Saigon - Mekong Delta. Would this still be worth doing in November or would it be better to revise my itinerary or return to Vietnam early in new year instead if possible? ...

4th visa extension

Posted by mabrock71 on 10/7/2008 at 12:26

We want to renew our visas for a 4th month (I know we should have got the 6 month visa, but at the time china was our plan and that is virtually impossible now). A guy in Hoi An quoted us $100, this seems excessive to me - any thoughts or recommendations on a good agent in Hoi An or Danang would be appreciated. ...

Day tour from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho

Posted by teyc on 1/11/2012 at 16:39

What is a good way to travel from Ho Chi Minch City to Can Tho in a single day, while taking in the sights at Cai Be plus having boat rides. Are there tour buses that run this route? Ideally, the bus should take care of my luggage while I go on the long boat ride before taking me to Can Tho. I read somewhere that there were people who follow a tour or private driver to take them to Cai Be, then go on boat ride from Cai Be to Vinh Long, then the driver picks them and up and take them to Ca ...

5-6 weeks in Vietnam - itinerary suggestions?

Posted by GhostOfTomJoad on 9/10/2012 at 12:30

I'm going to be in Vietnam for about 5-6 weeks in February and March 2013 (part of a 6 month trip to SEA). On a scale of most to least, i'm most interested in history and culture, and just chilling out and taking things as they come (hence why i'm spending 5-6 weeks rather than shooting through in a fortnight) and least interested in partying. I'm going from south to north and have identified the main areas along the way (HCMC, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi and Sapa). What other places are wo ...

Arriving at Ho Chi Minh City at midnight

That's kinda what you get with some of the budget airlines I guess. I'll be flight out of Manila in Sept (on the 6th) at about 11pm MNL time. And will arrive in HCMC at 12.40am. I was wondering if there are still taxis and (if they are safe) buses at this time that go to District 1. Pls. help! Any info would be great. (It's the same case for my trip back to Manila from Bangkok - my flight leaves Bangkok at midnight) Thanks, LGR ...

Hanoi/Ha Long Bay/Sapa doable weather-wise in November/december?

Posted by Seba on 28/9/2009 at 20:48

Hi, I was planning to spend around 10 days in Northern Vietnam (Hanoi/Ha Long Bay cruise/ Sapa trekking)with two possible time frames: 1) beginning-mid November 2)end November-beginning of December But when looking at the weather charts of Northern Vietnam on this site, it appears that any two of these periods would actually be quite bad (lower temperatures, and highest rainfall of the year). So my question is: would going to Northern Vietnam around that period of the year not be a go ...
