Registrationdocument for motorbikes in Vietnam

Posted by JosefI on 15/1/2013 at 07:18

Hi, I'm planing to buy a motorbike in HCM-City in feb.'13 and I would like to have the 'right papers' in hand when I leave HCM-City to the north. What I mean is every paper can be faked and how can I be sure to have the right papers when I don't have any idea how the real ones look like. If anybody can show me a photocopy of the registrationdocument for motorbikes in Vietnam it would help me a lot. Thank you for your help. ...

What happens if we miss our train connection?

Posted by Davnew2 on 21/4/2012 at 21:05

My wife and I are traveling by train from Saigon to Sapa in July. We will need to switch trains in Hanoi. We have 2 hours between when our train is scheduled to arrive in Hanoi, and when our train to Lao Cai? Is this enough time. If me miss our connection, will be able to take the next train. We haven't purchased any tickets yet. ...

Travel Guide Cost

Posted by crafte on 11/1/2013 at 21:18

Hi, There is a group of 6 of us that are traveling SE asia (vietnam, cambodia, thailand) and we got quotes from travel agents that are helping with all accommodations which includes tour guides. We're planners and its our first trip so we feel more comfortable booking everything ahead of time even though many folks have told us to do it once you get there. For a guides in each city throughout our trip, they quoted us a per person rate for a private guide. Is this normal as I would of though ...

Help - itinerary

Posted by SBKM on 14/1/2013 at 23:27

Hello lovely people, We land in Hanoi in two days with the intention of travelling down the coast over the next 30 days in order to make our way to Cambodia (not the first people to do this route...) The issue we have is that we have heard the weather in North and Central Vietnam isn't the best at the moment. Would we encounter better weather along our travels were we to fly straight to HCMC once we get to Hanoi? This way we would travel up to coast back up to the North over a 30 day period ...

The week before tet: how soon should I book transport?

Posted by GhostOfTomJoad on 14/1/2013 at 19:56

I've read the article that travelfish put up about tet, and it answered a few of my questions but just need a bit of help regarding this. I plan to travel to Hanoi from Hue on February 5th, will I have trouble getting train or bus tickets if I leave this until I get to hue, which will probably be the 2nd? Or should I book it online by the end of January? I don't mind taking a soft seat on the train, or a night bus so I am flexible. ...

TET Festival 2013

Posted by StevenAM on 4/1/2013 at 13:21

Hi Everyone, I am very new to this website and it has already been exceedingly helpful. My partner and I are travelling to Vietnam arriving in Ho Chi Minh City on the 25th January. Now I know this has been covered in other posts but they are seemingly a couple of years old and the time tends to vary. I am just wondering what others views are on the TET Festival and the best places to be and whether it is as hard to get accommodation and to travel around this time as what some are making it ou ...

Eating Food Washed in Water

Posted by crafte on 12/1/2013 at 05:24

Hi, I'm from USA and I've gotten mixed messages on what we should eat when traveling. This is our first time to Vietnam and I was wondering if its safe to eat the greens and veggies that normally comes with many of the traditional vietnamese meals such as Pho and Bun Bo Hue. The greens and bean sprouts are what really makes the dish for me! I've talked to a season traveler to SE asia (he travels there probably 3 times a year over the past several years) and he says he eats everything. He jus ...

Bicycle Rental/Lockup

Posted by StevenAM on 8/1/2013 at 16:39

Hi, Now this may seem like a very stupid question to some, but in most of my travels so far I have used taxis/tours. I am wondering about the hiring of pushbikes while travelling through Vietnam (also Cambodia and Laos). It seems as if they are an awesome way to travel around and something I plan to do a fair bit. But the thing to me is no where explains how to keep them safe when you are visiting sites. Do the places you hire the bikes from usually supply locks or is this something that is imp ...

Con Dao worth it?

Posted by Lost_Vagabond on 30/11/2012 at 16:27

Hi there, I'm planning on a 3 week trip to Vietnam in April and was thinking of checking out Con Dao. I'm not sure if it would be worth the extra expense? It seems like its not been touched significantly by mass tourism (yet). I'm aware of the fact that it will be a plane trip there and also most likely elevated prices on the island. Is there actually any budget/reasonable accommodation on the island? ...

open bus ticket - prices

hello, just a word about the prices of the open bus ticket: a ticket with 5 stops should cost something around 20$-23$ if you buying it in Hanoi and around 15$-18$ if you buying it in Saigon. a ticket that include all the stops points will cost something around 25$ in Hanoi, and less in Saigon. I'm just telling you this because i met same people that paid 35$ because the travel agency told them that they will get special bus, but eventually, all of them got to the same bus like the ...
