Phu Quoc... Isolated paradise or tourist central?

Posted by LionAndTheBear on 30/4/2012 at 03:14

Hi guys, my girlfriend and I are hoping to go to Phu Quoc for Christms this year. Over the past couple of days i've read quite a lot about the island but am unsure at how up to date the information is. We would prefer to go somewhere where we're very isolated, perhaps a beach hut but aren't too far from a local shop / resturaunt. Should we expect this from Phu Quoc? I read that the island has an airport now? Has this increased tourism too much? I'd be interested to hear other island suggestions ...

Joma Bakery Cafe

Posted by timrann on 7/11/2011 at 01:14

Wanted to recommend adding Joma Bakery Cafe (22 Ly Quoc Su and 54 To Ngoc Van) to cafes in Hanoi. We've been in Laos in various forms since 1994 - a staple in Vietntiane and Luang Prabang. Pretty new to the Vietnam scene, but equally as refreshing an experience! Great arabica fair trade organic coffee (hard to find in Hanoi), delicious baked goods, and a strong social mission (partially owned by Hagar International to support victims of extreme human rights abuses and donates 2% of sales reve ...

I'm hoping to spend time in Ha Long Bay and Sapa over those two weekends.
