Last week I spent 5 nights at the brand new Art Hotel at 65 Hang Dieu in Hanoi's Old Quarter. I paid a promotional rate of $45. for the very large family room with an equally large balcony. Healing the Wounded Heart Shop is a humanitarian organization in Hue , Vietnam. It sells handicrafts made by disabled artisans using recycled materials. The guys behind the Hanoi Backpackers' Hostel have just opened a brand spanking new hostel at 9 Ma May, in the heart of the Old Quarter. It's really cool! I was most pleasantly surprised to find the Especen Hotel at 28 Tho Xuong Street in the Cathedral District (close by Hoan Kiem Lake). The $25. room I had was the best of my recent trip, a safe and interesting neighborhood, and most pleasant hotel staff. I've been in Can Tho a few times recently (I live in Hanoi) and I stumbled upon "Beauty Salon Paul: for women and men" 1 block in from the waterfront in Can Tho. The salon is a small store front run by a nice woman who speaks excellent English. She and her assistant do haircuts, nails, and foot massage for great prices.
