Proof of Onward Travel in Thailand

Posted by stumac10 on 20/3/2012 at 06:19

I know this topic has been covered quite a bit so I appologize in advance. I have a return flight from London to Bangkok and I am just wondering even though the return date is more than 30 days after arrival (32 days) will this be sufficient proof of onward travel. If not I have a flight from Laos to Vietnam booked as well as Cambodia back into Thailand will these be sufficient. I plan on travelling from Thailand to Laos over land. Thank you. ...

Hi guys and girls I'm popping to Taipei at the start of May 2012 and I need to get to Vietnam from there. I was thinking that the cheapest way would be to fly from Taipei to Hanoi but the cheapest flight I found was £250. Does anybody know of a cheaper way of getting over there? whether it be a cheaper airport, by boat or by any other means? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! ...

Laptop Searching at Customs

Posted by swebb92101 on 3/3/2012 at 17:05

I've read that you cannot enter Thailand with pornography. Is there any chance they will actually search your laptop or cellphone for all images, videos, links, etc? Of course I have porn on my laptop and none of it is illegal by US standards. Does that mean I need to delete everything prior to arrival/ Thanks so much for any help. ...

Vietnam VOA - Port of Entry

Posted by techuk on 1/3/2012 at 07:10

Hi I am travelling to Vietnam at the end of March, flying from Gatwick to Hanoi , immediately followed by a connecting flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Min (less than 2 hour wait for connection). I am in the process of applying for a Visa Invitation letter using Vietnam visa pro, my question is what Port of entry should I state? I am guessing that I will not clear immigration until I reach Ho Chi Min, but will Vietnam airlines let me board Gatwick -> Hanoi? I'm confused and considering applyi ...

Hi this maybe a very common question but i cant seem to find anything; In a summary I will be flying from London (I am a UK citizen) in to Bangkok on 13th Feb, heading to Laos, then to Cambodia, then to Vietnam. From Vietnam we hope to catch a flight back to Thailand and finish off our travels in the south, head back to bangkok and fly home 4 months after we first intially arrived on the 6th Feb. I have gathered that by re-entering Thailand by air from Vietnam I can then get a further 30 day v ...

Various Border Crossings & 60 Day Thai Visa

Posted by StephJayne165 on 7/2/2012 at 07:29

Me and a friend are planning on travelling SE Asia for around 5 months, we have a rough plan in place atm, but wanted to double check that we weren't going to come unstuck en route when it comes to visas. So far our plan is to fly into Bangkok, getting a 30day visa on arrival and stay in that area for a week or so, then heading to Cambodia via land (If anyone has a rough idea on cost/time this would also be helpful. From there we'll be spending a month in Cambodia (visa on arrival again), durin ...

Tay Trang - Visa on arrival for Korean passport?

Posted by Autarkes on 17/1/2012 at 21:53

In a few months, I'll be traveling through both Vietnam and Laos. I am fairly sure that I will be using the Tay Trang border crossing to go from Vietnam to Laos. I have an American passport and plan on getting a visa on arrival at the border. However, my travel buddy is Korean. Are Laotian visas on arrival available for South Korean passport holders at Tay Trang? Or any other border crossing for that matter? Or is it necessary to get a visa from the embassy in advance? Many thanks, Autar ...

I just found out by calling the Chinese embassy in the country I am visiting (Spain) that if I want to apply for a chinese visa here I either have to be a citizen of Spain or a legal resident. They told me if you're not a citizen or legal resident of the country where you are applying for a visa they would not accept the application, at least these are the rules in Spain. They told me the only way to apply is to send my passport back to my home country or legal residency and have someone apply f ...

Arriving in Thailand without a booking for onward travel

Posted by clairenz on 25/12/2011 at 11:54

Hi there, My boyfriend and I are both New Zealanders, and will be flying from Kathmandu to Bangkok on the 31st of March 2012. We then plan on travelling north and crossing into Laos at the Chiang Khong/Huayxai border crossing. We are worried that because we do not have an onward flight booked out of Thailand within 30 days, that we will be refused the visa/boarding of our plane to Bangkok. Has anybody had experience of this recently? i.e. flying into Thailand without onward travel booked? I ha ...

Visa Clarification Questions...Thailand and Vietnam

Posted by sundevil556 on 24/1/2012 at 12:39

I will be flying into Hanoi in March from the US with the intention of traveling through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos. I have no return flight home booked yet and do not intend to do so until I am in Asia. I have done extensive visa research and feel pretty well versed but still have a few questions. I plan on applying for the visa on arrival for Vietnam and then Laos and Cambodia seem pretty simple to obtain at border crossings so not worried there. However, Thailand is my main conc ...

Shanghai to ANYWHERE in SE Asia

Posted by Kassassin on 12/1/2012 at 23:51

Hi, I got a REALLY cheap flight to Shanghai (PVG), but I would like to get to Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, or Cambodia. What is the cheapest possible way to do this? I posted this in the Visa section because I'd rather not have to buy a Chinese visa, and this is posted on the Chinese Consulate website "Citizens holding passports issued by the following nations are not required to obtain a visa given he or she transit by Shanghai and stay up to 48 hours" [US citizens included]. Any way t ...

Getting a visa for Burma (Myanmar) in Vientiane

Posted by KirstyB on 14/12/2011 at 05:51

Some up to date information on my recent experience …..... Getting to the Embassy The embassy is located about 7/8 kilometres from the centre (in the direction of the Friendship Bridge). If you take a tuk tuk, make sure the driver knows where he's going! A tuk tuk will charge up to 80,000 kip for a round trip and with hard bargaining 50,000 kip. Remember you'll need to do that twice – once to drop off and once to collect. Alternatively you can rent a bike for 10,000 kip and cycle there ...

Me and my gf have been saving up for just over 2 years to go travelling for hopefully around 6 months, we are looking to go to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, after reading the visa section here we have decided rather than obtaining all our visas beforehand we will just obtain them all on arrival (except the Vietnamese which we believe will be best obtained in Bangkok) I ...

Visas and Vietnam Airlines

Posted by herbcorella on 12/11/2011 at 23:40

Recently, we went from Sydney to Vietnam, sort of 2 weeks there; on to Frankfurt and returned to Sydney (transiting through Vietnam). But, what a disaster. Sydney was very helpful and assured us that we need a visa for the stopover (going over) but no visa would be required for the trip home. Well, they should have told Germany, we flew business class and when we turned up for the return leg (Frankfurt - Hanoi - Saigon - Sydney) we were deenied boarding in Frankfurt. No visa, no boarding and ...
