Haad Yao to Langkawi on Tigerline

Posted by WonderingTsar on 11/3/2011 at 10:08

Hi all The Tigerline ferry goes from various points in South West Thailand then Haat Yao (near trang) then Koh Lipe on to Langkawi Malaysia. I know that there is an im/emigration office on Lipe, but how does it work (stamp out of Thailand) if you are going direct from Haat Yao to Langkawi? I don't think that there is an immigration/emigration office in Haat Yao. Do Tigerline wait for you to go ashore at Lipe and get stamped out there, or is there a Thai office in Langkawi, or what? I want ...

Crossing Le thanh border by motorbike

Posted by onzereis on 21/1/2011 at 21:36

Since thereis not much information about crossing de Le Thanh border in Vietnam intoCambodia by motorbike. I’ll write down our experience with this bordercrossing. First of aldon’t take any shortcuts in Vietnam, stick to the main road (ql14). We tried ashortcut and ended up in a police station in the middle of nowhere. We couldn’tgo futher and had to ride all the way back and take the 14 to Pleiku. The road we thought was quicker was 14C. At Pleikutake the road to ‘La dom’ were the Le ...

How do I travel without set plans? More specifically, what do I do about Visas, outbound ticket reqs

Posted by gottagetaway on 9/3/2011 at 11:47

I'm ready to bounce in a matter of weeks. What I had previously planned to do was to fly in to Bangkok on a 90day roundtrip ticket, then explore the region (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, maybe Indo if I have the cash for a ticket there and back), taking each new destination as I decide to go there, and then return to Bangkok to fly out at the end of my travels. One of my goals right now is to teach in the region, preferably in Korea or Taiwan, or perhaps Japan. I just found out that my friend from ...

Free Tourist Visa

Does anybody have information regarding the free Thai tourist visas? According to this website http://thailandlandofsmiles.com/visa/ and others, a scheme granting free 60 day tourist visas has been extended to March 2011. My queries are a) whether you have to travel before March 2011 or whether I could get one of these free visas for my trip in June and b) how do i get one? Any information would be greatly appreciated! ...

Siem Reap to Bangkok (& vice versa)

Posted by ningny on 26/2/2011 at 19:33

Hello! I'm part of a group of 9 people heading towards Siem Reap from Bangkok. Have been reading up on the Internet about the most viable ways but most articles are contradictory. Was wondering if y'all could advise on the best possible way. If we leave Siem Reap at 4pm, is it possible to get to the Thai-Cambodia checkpoint by before it closes? And then from the Checkpoint is it possible to get a private taxi (or two) straight to Suvarnabhumi Airport or at least Bangkok? We have a flight to ...

hanoi to luang prabang

Posted by nickolt on 18/2/2011 at 22:53

Just wondering if anyone could give me a clear answer on this topic. My bf and I are wanting to get to Luang Prabang from Hanoi sometime around the 25th of Feb. We're having a hard time figuring out the safest overland route for this. Flying is a potential option if there doesnt seem a good way, however the cost is about 180 each, way over our budget so we would really prefer not to fly. Is there a direct bus that does this route? I have heard stories from other travellers about bad border ...

Visas for Laos, Cambodia and Bali

Posted by Nicol on 6/1/2011 at 02:36

Hi guys Sorry to repeat a question that is most likely frequently asked but could you confirm that I can definitely get a visa on arrival at Laos and do not need to send my passport off as there does not appear to be a Consulate in the UK anyways. Also does the same go for Cambodia or is it easier for me to get my Cambodian visa in advance? Ditto for Bali? I am travelling with Intrepid in March 20011but they do not want to give advise on Visa as the situation changes all the time. Thank you ...
