Hi, This is my first post to this forum, so let me start by saying hi to everyone. We are a couple cycling around south east asia and up to China and Tibet. We are going to apply for the Chinese visa this week in Bangkok and I was wondering if anybody had any advice for us as to what to put on the application, documents to attach and so on it would be greatly appreciated. From Laos to Vietnam

Hello everyone, Planning my trip and wondering how is best to do crossing border from Laos to Vietnam, Last stop in Laos is Vientiane and thought to cross the border on Nam Phao, so I take bus to Lak Sao and from there catch the bus to border. Any suggestions what time is best to cross? Is there anything worth to see and stop on the way to Lak Sao from Vientiane? Any troubles happening on the border? is it easy to cath the bus from the border to Vinh? Thanks a lot Ignas ...

can you enter Vietnam earlier than the date on your visa?

Hi everybody, Stuck in China. Stuck in freeeeeeezing cold China. We had originally planned to enter Vietnam on the 3rd Feb, and was wondering if it's at all possible to enter Vietnam earlier than the date on your visa. I dont want to extend the total time period (currently 3 months), i just want to bring forward the date of entry and exit.. is this at all possible?? Cheers ...

Hello Everyone I'm planning to leave Vietnam, Sapa at 1st Feb 2011. We plan to go to VangVieng, Luang Prabang, Vientian and then back to Thailand at Nongkhai. I would like to ask; 1. How do you go about backpacking without definate entrance and leaving dates - with regards to visa's. Because as far as I have understood you need to show proof of a flight leaving the country to obtain a visa at the border. But I don't want to be tied down to those sort of restrictions and obviously don't want to pay for flights I may have to cancel if plans change. HELP ME PLEASE!!! I leave on 01 December 2010. ...

Can you apply for the Vietnam visa before flying, but leave without having the printed approval letter? I lost my passport, and couldn`t get a temporary without proof of travel, but obviously I couldn`t apply for the vsa until I had a passport. So now the flight is tomorrow. My Vietnam visa assures me the approval will be gotten before I get to Vietnam, but not before I have to leave for the airport, and lose all access to a printer.... What do I do????????????????? hello I have searched endlessly through websites but cannot find information on this topic, only on the reverse direction! We are wanting to take local and cheap buses from Vientiane to Bangkok and want to do it overnight. We are trying to get to the airport in Bangkok. flying in 10 days no visa for thailand

Hi, I will fly to Thailand in 10 days. I will stay there only for 2 days before going to Laos. My flight back from BKK is more than 30 days (42) after my first entry in Thailand. I just read in the forum that i need a proof that i will leave the country within 30 days. Unfortunately i do not have such a proof. I only have flight tickets from luang prabang to hanoi and one more within vietnam. i do not know whether my airline / the authorities will accept that as proof. Any ideas? I am now cons ...

Hi! For various reasons when I was in Vietnam I didn't get all my shopping done that I wanted. I was hoping to pop back quickly to HCMC before I head home to get some Christmas shopping done at the market. Does anyone know if I still require a visa if I am only in the country for 12 hours? I know that in China you do not need a visa for a short layover....wondering if the same theory applies in Vietnam? Thanks! ...

if im traveling to vitnam for 63 days is it ok to go with a standard 30 days visa and get it extended while there?would coustoms be fine with that? the reason im asking is it looks a lot cheaper to do that way,the uk embassy wants over £100 for the 90 day visa,pluss i still cant decide wether il be just doing vietnam or cambodia and laos to. oh and is it easy to extend a visa once in nam?would i have to do it before i left ho chi minh? anyone please. ...

Thai visa in Cardiff Consulate UK

I've just returned from obtaining my Thai visa in Cardiff.It took me 10 minutes to get a double entry visa, cost nothing not even admin charge and the vice-consul is very pleasant and helpful. All it cost me is the petrol to get there.I believe visas are gratis until March.Brilliant deal! ...

Hi, I'm a chinese passport holder, working in Hong Kong, and a US greencard holder, I'm planning to take the train from Bangkok to Singapore via Malaysia, for approx. 14 days. I think I can get a Thailand visa on arrival, I'm not so sure about Malaysia ? Okay so I'm in Cambodia at the moment, heading shortly into Laos. When I arrived in Cambodia and got my visa the guy put it 3 pages from the back, leaving a gap of 17 pages! I have no idea why he did this but by the time he gave it back and I saw,it was already stuck down and too late to change. I still have a Laos visa and a Thailand one to get- will 3 pages be enough as I read somewhere they like you to have 3 pages after the visa they put in-which by the tinme i reach Thailand I won't have. ...
