Some up to date information on getting a visa for China in Thailand as I just dropped off my passport at the Chinese embassy in Chiang Mai. The process was pretty straightforward although the application form required a bit more detail than it did last year when I applied here. The visa section is open Monday to Friday (except public holidays) 9am to 11.30am for applications and collections. According to the girl working there procedure and costs etc are the same as if you apply in Bangkok.
Hi! I am going to thailand/cambodia/vietnam in the spring and wanted to apply for an Australian work visa whilst over there if possible. Has anyone crossed the Vietnamese-Cambodian border at this crossing (in this direction) more recently than the report in the sticky thread?
Specifically, I'm interested in transport options from the Cambodian side of the border to Ban Lung (getting to the crossing from Pleiku seems no problem), and whether in fact Cambodian visas _are_ available on arrival at the crossing or not.
Any info on this crossing would be much appreciated. ...

Some recent developments at this crossing.1)The Cambodian entry/exit post has now been moved,so if you wish to visit the Ha Tien Vegas casino,(which is technically in Cambodia, and if you are already in Cambodia),you do not now have to show your passport, but can go directly to the casino, without leaving Cambodia or having your passport stamped.2)The age old scam of Cambodian touts hanging around the border and telling people you cannot take a motor vehicle into Vietnam is still alive and well ...
My husband and I just made the trip from Siem Reap to Vientiane through Thailand.
We did this because we did not get our Laos Visas when we were in Phnom Penh, and didn't want to go back to get them. Therefore, we would not be allowed to cross the land border between Laos and Cambodia.
We also did this because flying was really out of our budget.
It may seem like a long post, but I tried to be as detailed as possible. It was so simple to do, I would recommend it to ...

Do I need to do all the paper work, passport pictures etc again or just use the same visapaper from Bangkok and get stamped in for 15 days?
I'm happy that I get my Thai Visa on arrival for a month. I'll only need it for the month, but.. I plan on doing a workaway placement in Cambodia for a while. So I may end up staying in Cambodia for 4+ months.

Can anyone shine some light on this for me ? I leave in just over 2 months and want to make sure I know what I'm doing haha !
