vietnam transit -- visa or no

Posted by sullivanmarc on 30/7/2009 at 07:48

I fly into Saigon on Nov. 26, arriving 23:10. I am considering flying on, probably to Bangkok, w/in 24 hours. Is there a way to do this w/o incurring the cost/hassle of getting a Vietnamese visa? Can I simply hang out at the airport on the international side of immigration until a flight the next a.m.? Is there such a thing as a formal "transit visa." The VN embassy site is not so helpful on this. Thanks ...

Laos Visa, best currency to pay with ?

Posted by keebone on 28/6/2009 at 13:16

I'm going to be crossing into Laos at the Friendship Bridge, Nong Khai - Vientiane and was wondering if I'm better off paying in US Dollars or Thai Baht. I would have to change British Pounds to US Dollars here in Pattaya somewhere and not sure what the rate would be like. Also anyone know the exact current price of a Laos visa for a British citizen. ...

Thailand to Yunnan (China) border crossing - anyone with experience?

Posted by brucemoon on 31/5/2009 at 09:17

Hi I'm planning a trip from Chiang Mai in Thailand to Yunnan in China. I understand there is a passenger boat from Chiang Sean in Thailand to Jinghong in China. Has anyone any details on this trip: * ie times, prices, etc., * the border crossing requirements (eg. visa on arrival to China for an Australian, or is it necessary to pre-order), and * what 'problems' might need to be addressed along the way. Cheers (in advance) ...

cambodia e-visa site down

Posted by sayadian on 26/1/2009 at 16:32

Does anyone have any idea why the e-visa site is no longer available? I have been trying for 2 days but all I get is a blank page. Doesn't exactly fill me full of confidence in the system. Before anyone suggests it's easier to get on the border. a) my passport is rapidly filling up and I don't want to lose another page. b) I want to avoid being ripped off at Koh Kong,I really resent paying those rip off merchants. ...

Pre approved visa for vietnam

Posted by thegingerbird on 13/5/2008 at 23:16

Hi everyone This site has helped me so much in planning my trip I wanted to post some info that I couldn’t find but I hope that others find useful. I am flying into HCMC from the UK on 3rd June. I applied for a prearranged visa for Vietnam from www.guidevietnam.com. I filled out a form with basic personal info and travel dates and submitted it on the website. Within 24hrs I received an email asking me to confirm my details and also giving me information on how to pay. The site does ...

Thailand immigration officer cock-up

Posted by lodge on 2/7/2009 at 20:06

When I crossed into Thailand from Laos into Nong Khai , I was given a 30 day visa stamp by the border official. According to my passport, this meant I had to be out of the country by the 1st July. On the 1st of July I went to Phuket immigration office and applied for a one week extention. The officer looked at my passport, stared at the visa stamp, got his collegues over and made some phone calls. Gist of it was; the officer at the Laos border had cocked up and given me the wrong stamp, ...

Thailand - Laos - Cambodia - Thailand

Posted by BazzRose on 2/7/2009 at 02:42

Apologies if these seem like stupid questions and there are obvious answers somewhere, but I've not been able to find them! I'm travelling in to Thailand on 3rd September, and will be spending 90 days in South East Asia. Looking to see as much of Thailand/Laos/Cambodia as possible (and time permitting Vietnam) Would I be better off applying for a tourist visa for each of these countries before I go? Also - as I'll be coming into Thailand, and then spending about 3/4 weeks there before hea ...

Vietnam visa dates

Posted by fivesilver on 28/6/2009 at 08:43

Sorry if this has been dealt with already - I'm in a hurry with a dodgy internet connection. Just got a Vietnam visa in Vientiane. It's got two dates on it, stating "valid from" and "until". Are these specific dates between which I can be in Vietnam? Or do I just have to enter between these dates and get stamped for 30 days? I've ben given conflicting information, and need to know for certain very soon. ...
