I am travelling to Cambodia and then Vitenam from Thailand in July/August 2007. To avoid any problems at borders, is it feasible to obtain visas in Australia at the Embassy's to avoid the hassle when arriving? ...
Just a quick question on Thai Visa's.
Will be flying to Thailand mid April from Republic of Ireland and
staying in Bangkok for 5 nights before getting a flight to Vietnam
where we will be staying for a couple of weeks. (Have already applied for Vietnam Visa)
The plan is to then head back to Thailand for another couple of weeks (down in the islands)
before moving onto Malaysia.
The question i have is :

I've heard that there are one stop shops in Bangkok that can issue visas for all three countries. Is this true? if so any details. I'm a UK citizen that will be overlanding Thai - Laos, flying into Hanoi and overlanding Nam to Cambodia.
We've gotten caught out with Tet and find that visa extension office won't be open until the end of this week. I am wondering if anyone has the recent experience of applying for a visa extension and/or a Chinese visa in Hanoi? How long can I expect it to take? Is it possible to get both in just 5 working days or am I being hopeful.
i am going to thailand next feb for bout 1-2 weeks before heading into laos, vietnam and cambodia. then back into thailand for about 3 weeks. Is it possible to get two under 30 day entries or do i have to get a multiple entry visa (very expensive to get before i go ). ??

We're going to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam all by bus/train (apart from initial entry into Bangkok airport).
I have read alot of threads about getting visa's at border crossings but I was wondering whether it is worth trying to pre-organise these visa's before we leave from our trip from the embassy's in Australia just for peace of mind.
Also, we are planning on arriving in Thailand and spening about 2-3 weeks up North before travelling through the other countries, but then ...
I'd like to spend a few days in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam before hitting some of the islands in the Gulf of Thailand - Phu Quoc (Vietnamese) and Ko Chang (Thailand). It seems daft to return inland when the islands are so close together (plus the added expense of paying the Cambodian visa again). Does anyone know if there is a way through? Thanks very much. ...
I was wondering if anyone has had any issues entering Cambodia with less than 6 months validity left on their passport. My current Canadian passport expires in July and I would like to visit Cambodia next week. The Cambodian Ministry of tourism site states that a passport valid for six months is required. I have read elsewhere online that a passport valid for 4 months is required and also that only valid passport is required.
I would be able to provide evidence of a return fli ...
In Thailand and Feeling flustered after reading conflicting information, does anyone have up-to-date information on these boarder crossings...

Arriving by air to PP International Airport in less than a week. I will be staying for over nine weeks and planned on getting my visa at the airport I thought I would get a business visa as it seems that these are easily extended. However, how do I go about extending my visa? I cannot do this at the airport when I arrive? Where do I do it?
I am planning a trip across the "Travelfish" region beginning later this month, and am about to send off my Vietnam visa app. Then I ran across this site:
http://www.vietnamtourism.com/e_pages/news/index.asp?loai=2&uid=1563. I think the article is from Sep, 2005.
"...foreigners and Vietnamese nationals bearing foreign passports who want to enter and stay in Phu Quoc Island for less than 15 days will be exempt from visa application. Those who enter Vietnam through an international b ...

Does anyone know what the fee (daily?) is for overstaying a Visa in Vietnam. Also - are there any other consequences? ie: might it affect a Visa application in the future? If anyone out there has experience of this, I'd appreciate a steer in the right direction. Weighing up time/etc needed when applying for extn during 3 days in Hoi An or just risking the overstay by 4 days option. Thanks in advance. ...
I'm curious and anxious to know about people's experiences crossing the laos/cambodain border overland. My travel agent advised me not to do it, as the Cambodian side is in guerilla territory. If I have to fly, this really disturbs my itinerary, but at the same time I'm not prepared to take too many risks.
Any advice/references/personal experience is very welcomed.
Just wondering if anybody has travelled from say Chiang Khong (Th) to Jinghong (Ch), or the reverse trip by rice barge or slow passenger ferry or whatever. In Oct-Nov this year I plan on spending 6 weeks in N Thailand and Laos as an independant traveller, and hope to visit Jinghong via the Mekong.
Am also wondering how to get my passport stamped if I'm on the Mekong - possibly after disembarking at Jinghong?
I'm planning on spending 18 days between Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam during the late Decemeber- mid January time period. I was looking at options for getting from Bangkok to Siem Reap and I noticed in an article that the train ride is highly recommended.
Is it easy to get tickets for the train, and will there be seats on the train itself? Also the article talks about the scenic ride, can anyone who has been on the train comment? I'm just wondering if the extra time and possible hassle it t ...
I was wondering if anyone had done the Lao/Cambodia crossing at Voen Kham recently. I've been reading that a boat trip down to Stung Treng costs around $50 USD. True? Also, can a Cambodia visa still be obtained at the border here, and if so for how much?
Thanks much ...
