Sharky Bar

Sharky’s Bar celebrated their 20th birthday in September 2015, and claims to be the longest running rock n’ roll bar in Indochina.

Who are we to argue? They’re on a mission to be The place to go for live music in Phnom Penh (and eradicate their long-standing reputation as a seedy sex worker bar). They’ve been pretty successful and Sharky’s now has gigs on every weekend. The vibe is laid-back, down low, and a little bit seedy, though no worse than anything on Street 51. Personally we’d be kind of disappointed if it weren’t; rock bars should be seedy. The best way to find out what’s playing, here or elsewhere, is to check out Leng Pleng (www.lengpleng.com). They have an open mic night every Sunday as well, with free drinks for the performers. The menu turns out what they claim is the hottest food in Phnom Penh, a spicy assembly of Tex Mex, and some cooler local and Western dishes. Open from 16:00 until late.
