Romdeng

If you’re interested in eating for a cause, Romdeng is part of the NGO Mith Samlanh, which trains and employs former street children.

And even if you're not interested in a good cause -- the food here is fab! Romdeng is set in a beautiful old villa. They specialise in traditional Khmer dishes from the provinces, giving you a chance to try some of the more adventurous Khmer dishes, like deep-fried tarantulas and red tree ants. Lots of other dishes on the menu will appeal to a more traditional palate. We are especially huge fans of their Khmer Muslim beef and peanut curry ($8.50), and the crunchy duck spring rolls with tamarind and wild honey sauce ($4.75) may start fights over who gets the last one. This is the priciest of the wonderful Tree-Alliance restaurants in Cambodia. If you like the idea, but are on a tight budget, then check out Friends The Restaurant, on Street 13, just off Street 178 and near the National Museum. The selection is more international, but the flavours just as memorable.
