Tasty selection of Lao food
Wat Chan Ln, alley running between Wat Ong Teu and the river, Vientiane

Tucked away on the alley between Wat Ong Teu and the river road, Pha Khao Lao is often overlooked, but shouldn't be if you're on the lookout for excellent Lao and Thai cooking.
The restaurant has a back garden terrace and wooden deck shrouded in lanterns and frangipani trees, creating excellent evening ambience. The extensive menu has a little something for everyone. This is a great place to try authentic Lao food, with possibly the best duck laap in town (laap being the national dish of Laos). The stir-fried morning glory is divine. Soups and curries are well made, and you should also consider the fried fish in tamarind sauce or prawns stir-fried with chunks of young coconut. Prices run from 49,000-50,000 per dish and the food is ideal for sharing. There are also plenty of fans that make dining on a hot summer night tolerable.
