The closest airports to Ko Phi Phi are Phuket and Krabi. Both are international airports, but Phuket has a far higher frequency of both domestic and international flights. All Thai domestic carriers fly to both airports. Check their websites for detailed pricing and schedule information.
Once at either Krabi or Phuket you'll need to get to the pier and grab a ferry to the island.
In high season, there are four departures from Ko Phi Phi to Krabi daily with the ticket price swinging between 250 and 300 baht and the trip taking around 90 minutes. Departures are at 09:00, 10:30, 14:00 and 15:30, though in low season the number of services may be reduced.
In the reverse direction, boats depart Krabi at 09:00, 10:00, 10:30, 13:30 and 15:00, likewise in low season the number of services may be reduced.
On the mainland the ferry port is about 5km out of Krabi town so most operators will collect you from your accommodation/booking office in Krabi (usually about 45 to 60 minutes before departure time).
There are three four boats a day to Phuket, leaving at 09:00, 13:30 and 14:30, 15:00 and 15:30 with the trip taking about 90 minutes and costing between 250 and 300 baht. On Phuket the boat lands at Ratsada pier and you will need to pay for onwards transport from there (either by taxi or minibus). Expect to pay 50 100 baht for a seat in a minibus to Phuket Town.
In the reverse direction, boats leave Phuket at 08:30, 11:00, 13:30 and 14:35:00. The ticket price of 350 or 400 baht includes transport from your hotel to the pier.
The price to and from Ko Lanta is 350 baht. Boats leave Ko Lanta at 08:00 and 13:00 (high season only) and take 90 minutes. Boats leave Ko Phi Phi at 11:30, 14:30 and 15:30.
The price to and from Ao Nang is 350 baht. One boat a day leaves Ao Nang at 09:00 and takes 60 minutes. In the reverse, a boat leaves Ko Phi Phi at 15:30.
From November through April, it's possible to travel all the way to Langkawi, Malaysia, within a day aboard Tigerline Hi-Speed ferry http://tigerlinetravel.com. The ferry departs Phi Phi at 09:00 and stops in Ko Lanta, Ko Ngai, Ko Kradan, Ko Kradan, Ko Mook, Had Yao Pier in Trang and Ko Lipe, before arriving at Langkawi at 18:00. The price to Langkawi is 3,150 baht per person, but you can buy a ticket for any portion of the trip. Book online at Tigerline's website and you'll get a 10% discount.
In the other direction, you can catch the ferry to Phuket, which leaves Phi Phi at 17:00. The one-hour trip costs 800 baht.
Speedboat charters run to all of the destinations listed above (weather permitting) with prices starting at about 11,000 baht per boat. Given the reckless ways we've seen some of these boats driven, we recommend checking the safety credentials of the boat operator carefully before booking.
