Cao Lanh’s bus station is conveniently set in the centre of town a short walk from the central market and there are plenty of cafes and places to snack at if you’ve some time to kill before catching a bus.
If you are travelling to Long Xuyen or Sa Dec, you need to get a local green bus from the bus station to the Cao Lanh ferry landing on the north bank of the Mekong River, get the ferry across and then get a local bus onwards either east (for Sa Dec) or west (for Long Xuyen). If you don’t want to bother with a local bus a xe-om from town to the ferry landing should cost 20,000 to 30,000 dong
For Cu Lao Gieng get a xe-om from Cao Lanh to Kinh Ngang wharf to the southwest of Cao Lanh, get the ferry across to Cu Lao Gieng and then a xe-om onwards from there to Happy Homestay.
For all other longer haul destinations, head to the central bus station in Cao Lanh. Sample fares include:
Can Tho 45,000 dong
Ho Chi Minh City (Mien Tay) 65,000–95,000 dong
Tay Ninh 120,000 dong
Tra Vinh 50,000 dong
