The train station is located on the western outskirts of town at the end of Phan Boi Chao. It's an express stop on the main, north-south railway line.
Vinh Railway Station (Ga Vinh): T: (0383) 853 158. Ticket Office hours: 07:30 to 11:00, 14:00 to 17:45 and 18:30 to 23:00.
Vinh is a minor, but nonetheless important transport hub for destinations to the north, south and west. It's located on Le Loi just south of the Phu Nguyen Hai Hotel.

Buon Ma Thuot: Cost 280,000 VND, departs at 06:00 on even numbered days according to the lunar calendar! 1,101 km.
Da Nang: Costs 105,000, departs at 06:30, 14:00, 19:15. 470km.
Gia Lai (Pleiku): Costs 280,000, departs at 08:00. 960km.
Hanoi: Costs 77,000, departs every 20 minutes from 04:40 to 17:40. 291km.
Hai Phong: Costs 91,000, departs at 05:00, 05:30, 06:30, 09:00, 10:45, 12:00, 13:30. 396km.
Ho Chi Minh City: Costs 350,000 VND, departs at 08:00. 1,430km -- makes several stops for meal breaks. Arrives at the Mien Dong Station.
Qui Nhon: Costs 229,000, departs at 07:30, 15:00, 16:00. 750km.
Buses to Laos
Buses to Phonsavan (Phon Xa Van) via the NamCan / Nam Khan border crossing depart at 6:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, costiong 142,000 VND (100,000 Laos kip). The trip is 403 km and should take about 12 hours. Through buses to Luang Prabang leave at 06:00 as well, on Wednesdays and Sundays only. The 690 km journey costs 325,000 VND (216,000 Laos kip). Vietnamese passengers pay less (but then again, they pay taxes and you don't!) To order Laos tickets in advance, contact the ticket master directly at T: (038) 834 4127.
Xe om are easy to find, or rather hard to ignore. Trips around town are in the 10,000 VND range and you can get a round-trip ride to Kim Lien for 70,000, or to Cua Lo Beach, including wait time while you're there, for 100,000.
